~Kate~
‘Mai? Where are we leading them?’ I asked. She was still in control and I preferred it that way because she just busted us out of the prison and we were hunted down by several wolves.
The other women she helped to get out were running for their lives as well.
When Mai decided we needed to get away she broke the silver bars like they were made out of clay. After that she opened all the other cell doors and instructed some women to get Ava out after that she said to me. ‘We need to leave right now, things have changed and we need to get back to our mate and prepare ourselves for war. I thought we could prevent this but apparently not.’
But Mai didn’t stop with getting the woman in this cell block out, she also wanted the unmated females to come with us. That meant that we had to fight.
Thankfully we weren’t the only ones looking for some payback. The attack went smooth and fast, the guards were stunned and outnumbered. Easy prey.
The memory of the other cell block would haunt me for the rest of my life. I had thought that the cellblock I was in was a nightmare. I had been kidding myself. When I saw the hollow looks of pain and defeat in every she wolves eyes I knew they had endured much more then I could even imagine.
Not to mention the wounds, cuts and bruises that adorned not only their bodies but also their faces. The gasps of shock the other mated she wolves uttered was enough to tell me that the rage I felt for this injustice was shared by everyone.
Several girls needed to be helped on their feet and when they left their cells they instantly felt a bit better. Their wounds would now heal within minutes instead of hours because the effects of the silver would wear off soon.
We were able to free every girl present but one woman protested, claiming that if she ran Banes would order his men to kidnap her daughters Niah and Moira. She was determined to stay and we let her be, there was no time to dissuade her from her cause.
Mai had scoffed silently. ´Her girls are already prey, simply because they are women and these men have no morals.´
That was several hours ago. ´We are leading them towards Crimson Blood territory, if we continue to head north-east we will eventually reach the coast. Most of the east coast in US territory is Crimson Blood territory. We need to get back to our mate. He is waiting for us with Mila and Asher.’ She answered.
Mai had ordered half of the women to shift and every woman in wolf form was carrying another non-shifted woman, after a while we would switch, thankfully werewolves were larger than average wolves. This way we were able to carry the elderly but also we would maintain strength when needed.
´Where are we?’ A young woman named Jean asked us. The forest was thinning and through Mai’s sense of smell even I knew where we were.
‘Near the coast, can’t you smell the salty air?’ Mai asked.
Jean shook her head and answered gleefully. ‘Nope, I’m not the best of sniffers, got punched in the nose when I was a kid, haven’t been able to smell properly since.’
I chuckled at that. ‘Well anyway, we are going to Crimson Blood. They will help us there.’
Jean smiled. ‘Good, I know the pack, they have always been the good guys. Will our mates be alright? They won’t kill them because we broke out now will they?’
‘There is no telling what they will do, I’ve never met such loathsome creatures.’ Mai answered truthfully. ‘You have to try to contact him as soon as possible so he knows what to do.’
