A/N: There is a some mind chatter going on in this chapter so I decided that from now on the distinction will be that the mind link conversations will be in cursive, I figure it’s easier to read.
This will also be Kate’s last POV. I’ll stick with Asher and Mila, since it’s their story. They deserve the spotlight.

~Mila~
‘What? You mean her wolf hijacked her body!?’
Asher looked straight at me. ‘It might be a possibility. Kate is still in there, just..,’ His voice trailed off and Carmine finished. ‘Not actively controlling her body. It appears that way. I’ve only had contact with Mai and haven’t heard about Kate thusfar.’
‘How can you just stand there, so passively? Don’t you care?’ I yelled at him in frustration. My best friend could have been taken over by her wolf.
Carmine looked at me with a pained expression and snapped at me. ‘It’s because I care that I do not act on my emotions right now. It won’t do me or any of you any good if I tear up this place simply to vent my frustrations. I lost her once and now that I have her back she’s not the one I fell in love with. It kills me Luna. But don’t you dare think that I don’t care!’
Calia didn’t growl at his outburst. ‘You deserve it.’ She claimed.
He walked up to Asher. ‘Please Alpha, beseech Mai to let Kate be her own person again. I will do the same.’
Asher sighed. ‘Ofcourse I will. And she will have to eventually. A wolfs spirit is not made to be in human form indefinitely. It’s just not natural.’
I snorted and muttered. ‘This whole werewolf stuff is just unnatural, why do I need to share my thoughts and emotions with a wolfs spirit?’
‘Mila! You don’t really feel that way now do you?’ Calia scolded me before any of the men could.
I could hear the hurt in her voice and I felt her immediate sorrow.
Asher smiled at me and took my hands. ‘I’ve always grown up knowing I would be an alpha and gain a wolfs spirit. I longed for that day.’ He looked me in the eye. ‘You’ve only had several weeks to come to terms with the fact that the whole world as you know it is different from how you thought it was. I understand why you would say that but please don’t say something like that again. It’s hurtful, not only to your wolf but also me and other werewolves. We are not freaks of nature my love, we simply exist as well.’
Calia whispered in my mind. ‘Asher is right Mila, you shouldn’t say those things when you don’t even truly know how you feel about it. You are too fast with your tongue while your mind is still unsure about so many things. You really hurt Carmine. Claiming he doesn’t care for his mate, shame on you! How would you feel if someone said that to you about Asher.’ I felt like I was being scolded by my mother, but rightfully so.
‘I’m sorry Carmine, I shouldn’t have spoken without thinking it through.´ I apologized to him.
‘You are forgiven.’ He said. ‘I know how much you care about Kate, she told me all about your friendship.’
The doors opened and out came the women. ‘Jean!’ Bryce ran up to the group and hugged a pretty brunette. I couldn’t help but smile at that, he seemed so happy.
When I saw Kate I almost didn’t recognize her. Her usually wavy blond hair was pulled back in a tight knot, she was wearing a black enforcers outfit and her grey eyes sparkled like liquid steel. She had red lipstick on. She seemed fierce and distant. Nothing like my likeable, huggable best friend.
