~Mila~
Callum was still distraught when I tapped his shoulder.
'Get up.' I ordered and he did as I said, looking at the ground in shame he started to speak in a pleading tone. 'I am sorry alpha. Please, tell me if I am banished or if you are going to kill me for my insubordination. It is what I would do so I understand your decision and I will willingly take either.'
'Save it.' I said, cutting him off and I looked at him. I knew he hadn’t meant me real harm and his own twisted way he had tried to protect me from future harm, but this type of radical and unpredictable behaviour I couldn't tolerate. It would make me seem weak towards the other pack members. So in that moment I made a split decision.
'I am demoting you Callum, from this day forth you will no longer be beta of this pack, you'll be the packs head enforcer.'
The wave of relief on his face was instant. 'Thank you for not banishing me alpha Mila. The pack means everything to me.' He whispered with his head still low.
'Just don't make me regret my decision.' I mumbled and sat down in the chair, I was so tired.
Mere seconds later the door flew open and a ferocious looking Asher burst in, followed closely by Liam, Quinn and Aaron who were struggling to keep Asher from attacking Callum.
'You've hurt her.' Asher seethed, his eyes flashed towards me, assessing the damage done and after that his attention was on Callum. His eyes flashed electric blue and his wolf was obviously aching to rip out Callums jugular. In that moment I saw the raw animalistic side of Asher. He was usually composed and fully in control of himself, this was the exact opposite. Even with three strong wolves trying to stop him he still advanced towards Callum. It was a huge turn on knowing my mate was willing to protect me no matter what.
'I should kill you now.' Asher growled at Callum and I stood up, placing myself between Asher and Callum. He saw me and looked me in the eye. 'I won Asher.' I said and I touched his face, trying to calm him down. 'Please calm down, I know why he did this and you will be surprised to know why.'
'There is no excuse for such disloyalty.' He snarled and gave Callum menacing looks.
'Look at me Asher, if he really wanted to kill me I would be dead. He is a great fighter and I can still use his skills. For that reason I took away his rank. He is no longer my beta.' Well, that reason and the fact that I’m a human being who cares about other people, killing of banishing didn’t sit well with me in this case.
'He got off easy.' He said but I saw his eyes change back to their beautiful self.
He took a deep breath and looked at Liam, Quinn and Aaron who all seemed out of breath. 'I'm alright, let me go. And leave us.'
They did as said and Aaron mindlinked me on his way out, 'Jeez sis, your mate is way too strong. He went berserk when he felt you were in pain. I'm just happy I wasn't his target, because he would have ripped me to shreds in no time.' After that he broke the mindlinked and closed the door behind him.
Asher looked at me and his hand caressed the side of my tender cheek making the skin tingle pleasantly. 'Are you alright love?' He asked concerned.‘Just some minor bruising that will heal within the day, he didn’t try to kill me or really hurt me Asher. Can I explain to you what just happened without you ripping out someone’s throat? I will be very upset with you if you do that.’
I smiled up at my mate, he was possessive over me and I liked it but he did have to realise that I am an alpha too and I am totally capable of making my own decisions for my pack even though they might not be to his liking. He still needed to respect that decision.
