Chapter 58

At the hospital

Dawson's pov

"What do we got?" A nurse says "Man fell unconscious from smoke inhalation. Gave him oxygen on scene." I tell them as we rush in. "Bay 2 let's go. Thanks guys we got it from here." He says. "We also need to get one of our paramedics checked out." I say. "who we checking out?" Dr Manning says as she walks up to us. "that would be me." Brett says. Shay and I will be filling out paperwork then will be in the waiting room. So just come find us when you're done." I say.

Sylvie's pov

The Dr leads me to an exam room. "So what happened why do we need to check you out." Dr Manning asks. "Well not many people know this yet but I'm pregnant. About a little over a month might be close to two. Ive been careful it's just today on a call I didn't lift the stretcher right and felt pain in my stomach." I say. "Alright let's see whats going on here. Lay back for me and lift up your shirt. She says. Just as In about to do so I hear a voice outside. "Where is she" the voice says. "sir please you need to wait in the waiting room." The nurse says "No I need to see my wife shes a paramedic that was brought in." The voice says again with a bit of anger. "You know if he doesn't see me he'll just keep going on and on. Change come back here. He is my husband." I say "I'll be right back" Dr Manning says. As she walks out. "It's okay I've got this. Kelly please come with me your wife is in here with me." I hear her say out side the room. Kelly comes rushing into the room. "Kelly babe you didn't have to come." I say. "I know I wanted to. cheif let me come after we were done."he says taking me hand as dr Manning dose the ultrasound. "baby looks perfectly healthy. I think you just pulled a muscle. I want you to do light duty at work and if things get worse go see your doctor" She says. We thank her then head out to find Dawson and Shay to head back to the firehouse.
