Tristan and I sit in that room for awhile until I look over at him.
"Do you wanna go back?" I ask.
Tristan shakes his head.
"I'll go back when this handsome face looks handsome again," he replies with a smile.
I laugh.
"You can go if you want," he sighs. "Get back to Cal."
Tristan spits out his name.
"I'm not going anywhere," I say.
Tristan raises an eyebrow at me.
"If I didn't know any better," he says with a smirk. "I'd think that you have a thing for me."
I roll my eyes.
"You wish," I laugh.
Tristan's silent for a moment. I look back over to him. He's staring at me intently. I look back at the floor in front of me.
"Tristan," I begin.
"I know," he cuts me off. "But a man can have his dreams, can't he?"
I raise an eyebrow.
"Sure," I say.
Unless they consist of me, I add silently. Well, that make it awkward.
"So..." I trail off. "Your face looks back to normal."
Tristan grunts in small effort getting up. I stand up, too. We leave the room and go back to the main middle part. I notice that Cal isn't here anymore. We were probably gone awhile, so of course he wouldn't be.
I see Stacy walking up to us.
"Hi," she says. "Can I train Tristan for awhile?"
"He's all yours," I reply.
Tristan follows Stacy with a sigh. I turn away and start walking down a hallway just to run into Cal.
"Mo," he says. "I'm sorry."
"Tell that to Tristan," I reply.
"I will," Cal says. "But I'm also sorry to you."
I raise an eyebrow.
"For what?"
"For everything from fighting with Tristan to not listening to you," Cal answers.
He reaches out to put a hand on my face but hesitates. He puts his hand back down.
"I know what you're thinking," he sighs. "You don't forgive me. But I will apologize to Tristan. That's how sorry I am."
That makes me angry.
"Read my lips, Cal," I say. "I don't want you apologizing for my sake. I want you to apologize for his. He's been through so much. He watched his parents die. I don't want you to lie straight to his face that you're sorry. People like him can tell if you really are."
"Mo," Cal says.
"You don't know a single thing about his past," I say. "And I know, you've gone through a lot, too. But Tristan... Tristan's different. You didn't watch the people you care for most die. He did. He has flashbacks and it definitely doesn't help if you're pushing him."
Cal's silent.
"I love you, Cal. But you have to accept Tristan for who he is."
"I will do my very best to not physically hurt him," Cal says. "I swear."
