I lean my head against Cal's shoulder as his arm wraps a bit tighter around my waist.
"Ya'know," he says. "I apologized to Tristan."
I look up at him.
"Really," I say, doubtfully.
Cal nods.
"It was... The day Avail Firi took you," he says. "Before I knew you were gone."
I sigh.
"I blame myself," Cal continues. "That you were taken. I should've been there for you. I should've known something was wrong when Tristan wasn't with you. I could have protected you."
I sigh again.
"Don't blame everything on yourself," I say. "You couldn't have done anything."
"But still," he says.
"Just don't blame yourself. It does nobody any good."
This time he sighs.
"I wanna be there for you," Cal says. "I wanna be there for you as much as I possibly can."
"Well you're here now, aren't you?" I ask.
"Are you still mad at me?" Cal out-of-the-bluely asks.
"No," I sigh.
I get up from my spot and sit on the coffee table so I face Cal.
"Cal," I begin. "You know that it wasn't your fault that Avail Firi took me. It doesn't take a mind reader to figure that one out. You also know that I can't stay mad at you, especially when I was faced with never being able to see you again. Yes, there's been ups and downs. Yes, there's been things that actually were your fault and things that were my fault. But this wasn't one of them. Neither of us could control what happened and I just wanna forget about it. Avail Firi will still probably be after me but I'll be ready next time. So don't blame yourself for these matters and don't think I'm mad at you and try to make it up. Because I do love you and it would be pretty hard not to."
Cal blinks at me. Probably trying to put together everything I just said. I did say a lot, didn't I? In a swift move, he pulls me to him and hugs me, putting one hand on my head and the other on my back. I wrap my arms around his waist. I missed him. I missed his face I missed his smell I missed all of him. Yes, I've been back for about two weeks but he barely visited me in the hospital. It's understandable; it's hard to see someone you care about hurt in the hospital or anywhere.
He plants a kiss on my head.
"I love you, " he whispers. "I've always loved you."
I pull my head back to look at Cal. The hand that was on the back of my head moves to cup my cheek. The mood totally changes. I lean into kiss him and I do, softly. He kisses back with the same softness.
Cal pulls me closer to him. I run a hand through his hair to the back of his neck. He groans slightly and presses his lips harder against mine. After awhile we have to get more oxygen so we part, our foreheads leaning against each other's. I'm now on top of Cal as he sits on the couch.
"How am I so lucky to have you?" he asks.
"You broke into my house," I smile.
