Morgan's POV
My eyes flutter open. I feel shackles around my wrists raising them up on chains to two poles in the middle of a big, dark room with only the light from underneath a door that goes into another room. I try to look around at my surroundings, but since there's no light, I can't see anything.
Where am I?
All the memories of what just happened rush back into my mind. The man who pretended to be Apollo... He said he was Zeus's brother. I've seen Poseidon and he definitely didn't look like that. Could that be Hades?
The door slowly creaks open and I see the figure of the man standing in the light.
"So it lives," he says. "I was worried I hit you too hard. That wouldn't be any fun. I want you to suffer."
He's suddenly right in front of me. He walks a few feet away and flicks a small light on.
"Why are you doing this?" I demand.
"Ever since my brother killed all my family and, with the help of my other brother Hades, put them in Tartares, I've been looking on how to get back at him," the man replies. "You're one of his favorite children. So I'm going to make you suffer. You'll have a long... Slow... Painful death."
"You're not Poseidon," I say.
He lets out a laugh.
"No! Of course not!" he says.
"Then who are you?" I question.
"You talk too much," the man sighs. "I'm Avail Firi. Enough with the chitchat, godling. It's time to watch you suffer."
I see him bring out a fire poker from behind his hand. He grabs it with his hand and the end immediately lights up. I gasp. Avail Firi smirks and swings the poker at my stomach. I shriek in pain as the heated end slams into my gut. He walks around me and hits me in the back with it.
I clench my jaw and squeeze my eyes closed in pain. I hear evil laughter as the poker hits me again, only this time harder. I shriek again.
"I love hearing the pained shrieks of horror," Avail Firi cackles. "Especially something as prized to Zeus as you."
He jabs the poker into my arm and I let out a scream. He does this for a few minutes. I hear my shrieks and screams of pain echo around the room.
"I don't feel like using this poker anymore..." Avail Firi says.
He throws down the poker and it immediately isn't lit up anymore. My head is hung low and my body limp. The only way my face and torso are staying off the ground is the restraints. I then feel a foot hitting my gut as Avail Firi kicks me. He grabs me by my hair and pulls my face to look at him. He makes a tsk sound.
"Such a waste of beauty," he says. "To be wasted on you."
He hits me with his free hand then twists my arm around. I let out another shriek of pain and Avail Firi laughs a taunting laugh. He hits me across the face again then kick my side. He takes out a knife.
"I'm gonna make this slow," he hisses.
Avail Firi slowly puts the knife in my skin and slides it down my arm, slowly. I shriek in pain when he puts the knife deeper.
He finally gets tired of torturing me, then squats down in front of me. He lifts my head up by my hair again.
"I'll continue tomorrow," he snarls with a smirk on his face.
He lets my head drop and then leaves. I stay there, limp, as I feel the pain I was just put through.
How much of this will I be able to handle before I die?
I don't know. But, all I do know is this; I need to live. I need to see Cal again. I need to see Tristan again. I need to help him in any possible way to kill Fongratch. I let out a small laugh to myself. Here I am, shackled up in Zeus knows where being tortured by a god I didn't know about who wants to slowly kill me. And I'm worrying about Tristan and his journey.
But I need to see him. I need to see both him and Cal. No, I don't know how much of this I can take. But I certainly need to take a lot. My life depends on it.
