1 week later

*********

Cal gets out of the med center today. He seems pretty excited about it, but he doesn't like the doctors talking to him about how careful he has to be. He looked frustrated the last time I looked at him through the opening. I'm standing outside of his room in the med center at about 9:37 pm. In the past week, nothing has really happened. Bella and Sam got back together when Sam got out of the med center a couple days ago. I told Cal about Tristan the next day after what happened with him. I haven't seen Tristan since then. I know he's here because his car is here.

Cal walks out of his room and I go over to him. He pulls me to him and kisses me.

"How careful do you have to be?" I ask.

"I don't know," Cal shrugs. "Stopped paying attention after a while. But I'm fine."

"Good," I say. "You won't kill Tristan now, right?"

Cal smiles a bit then shakes his head. When I told him about Tristan, he seemed to take it pretty well. But, then again, he hides things sometimes. Cal grabs my hand and starts to walk to the door. I walk with him then stop when I see Tristan. Why? Why do I only see people that I'm in an awkward position with when they could either be killed or I'm purposely avoiding them? Gods. I look over at Cal to see him staring at Tristan with a clenched jaw.

"I'm gonna talk to him," Cal says. He's gonna kill him. "I'm not gonna kill him. I'm just gonna talk to him."

Cal starts to walk over to him and Tristan tenses. I take a couple steps forward so I can listen in. I don't want Cal to start threatening him. Cal crosses his arms then stares at Tristan for a bit.

"What?" Tristan demands.

"Morgan told me what you did," Cal answers.

Tristan raises an eyebrow.

"Look," Cal says, sighing. "I know that you have feelings for her. You know I've known since Avail Firi. And I'm fine with that. Well, I'm not, but you can't help it. I get why you like her so much, but that doesn't give you any excuse to make a move on her. She's my girlfriend and I'm fairly certain that's not gonna change for a while. So, don't do that again. You're going to ruin the relationship you have with her."

Wow. I did not expect that to come out of his mouth. I thought it would be more like, If you talk to her again, I'll kill you. Cal looks back at me while Tristan just stares at Cal with a surprised expression. He turns back to Tristan.

"Good job on killing Fongratch last week, by the way," he says then starts walking to the door again.

I follow after Cal then he stops suddenly. He spins around and narrows his eyes at Tristan.

"And you haven't told anyone about that?" he questions.

"What?" Tristan replies.

"You're gonna get someone killed," Cal says.

What? Cal spins on his heel again and walks out the door. I follow and catch up with him.

"What did you mean?" I ask.

"What?" Cal asks.

"You know," I reply.

"Nothing to be worried about," he says. "I'll meet you at the apartments?"

"No," I respond. "I'm driving you. Like the doctors said, you need to be careful."

"Driving?" he questions. "Please, pushing my foot down on a pedal and steering a wheel isn't the most work I'm planning on doing tonight."

Cal winks and gets in his car. Did he just..? He did. My face heats up a bit as he stares at me through the car window. He starts up his car and smiles at me. He backs out of the parking lot and drives down the road towards the apartments. I get in my car and start driving. I honestly can't tell if Cal is joking or not sometimes. I guess I'll find out. I still can't get over the fact that Cal actually talked to Tristan. He didn't try to hurt him in any way and that's very unlike him. He hates Tristan. He doesn't like most people, though. He cares about three people that I know of; Sam, me, and Silmos. But he despises Tristan as far as I know. I don't know.

I turn into the parking lot of the apartment building and see Cal leaning against his car which is parked in a parking spot. I park next to him and get out of my car. I walk around my car and stand by it.

"Hi again," I say.

"Hi again," Cal replies.

"You actually talked to Tristan," I say. "How? And why?"

"I'm not losing you over an idiot like him," Cal answers, pulling me to his chest. "I love you. And I don't want to lose you."

"I love you, too, Cal."

He kisses me softly then slowly intensifies and deepens the kiss. I wrap my arms around his neck and run a hand through his hair. He bites my bottom lip and pins me against my car. Well, I know if he was joking or not now. Before I know it, we're upstairs in Cal's apartment, with him slamming the door behind us. He tugs his shirt off and picks me up. He stops and looks at me.

"Is this okay with you?" he asks, looking up at me.

"Yeah," I answer him. "Yeah, definitely."

He smiles and continues kissing me. He starts walking and I move my hand down his chest. He starts kissing my neck and sets me down on the bed.
