"How are you still even alive?" I ask, hopefully buying myself some time.

"Simple," Adam says, pressing the knife a bit harder into my neck. "Avail-"

He doesn't finish his sentence. That's probably due to the fact there's a knife sticking out of the side of neck. He's pushed over by a foot in a traditional MI boot. I look up to see Tristan standing over me with his hand out. I take it and he quickly pulls me up.

"Are you okay?" he asks, looking at me with concern. "Your neck is bleeding."

"Yeah, I'm fine," I reply, not even attempting to wipe the blood away. "You need to get to Fongratch."

I shoot at two people in front of us as I turn towards where Fongratch is. I can barely hear Tristan's gun going off about all of the chaos, but it didn't hit Fongratch so it was probably at another person. We get closer and closer to Fongratch, until we're just nine people away. They're all his soldiers, probably making a wall around Fongratch so we can't get close to him. Cute. I hold out both my hands and shoot two big lightning bolts at all of them that I can reach.

"Is this close enough?" I ask Tristan over the noise.

"I'm almost out of bullets," he replies.

"Mother of Zeus," I curse under my breath. "If you hadn't helped me, you would've had more!"

"I needed to help you!" he yells back.

I look away, towards the dead bodies around us. I find one with a sword and throw it to Tristan. I then find an almost empty quiver but still toss it to him and then give him my bow.

"I'll be the distraction," I say. "Find a way to get higher up."

"He'll kill you," Tristan objects.

"No, he won't," I reply.

He certainly will try but he won't succeed.

"Why are you so sure?" Tristan demands.

"Because I have people worth fighting for," I reply. "And I will fight with all I've got to make sure they live."

I turn away from Tristan and run in front of Fongratch. He has not seen us behind him, or see me right now.

"Hey!" I yell. "Fongratch!"

He slowly looks down at me and narrows his eyes.

"You are no human," he says in a low, gruff voice. "And you are no male. You are going to try to kill me? Because, godling, that will not work."

"I'm not here to kill you," I yell up to him.

"Then what are you doing here?" he demands. "In the middle of a battle?"

"I've come to make a compromise," I yell.

Fongratch stares down at me blankly. He then starts to chuckle the full out laughs, making the ground rumble.

"Compromise?" he says once his laughing dies down. "With me?"

"Yes!" I exclaim.

"I'm listening," Fongratch replies.

"Can you bend over so you can hear me better?" I ask.

"Since you can't kill me," he says.

He reaches around his neck and takes off a necklace. Whatever is in the middle glows green and then slowly turns to orange. And Fongratch shrinks. He doesn't shrink into a tiny baby monster; he shrinks into a human man. The human man Fongratch is ripped. He walks up to me and stares down at me. He's a good 10 inches taller than me.

"What is this compromise?" ripped-human-Fongratch asks.

"You stop your attacks," I say and he laughs. "And we give you the one who can kill you."

"That is your compromise?" he asks, chuckling. "Any human man can kill me."

"But only one knows of you," I reply, trying to sound like I know what I'm talking about. "Only one knows how to kill you. We'll give you him and won't tell anyone else how to kill you if you don't attack anyone or anything ever again."

"Let me see this human man," Fongratch says. "I will decide then."

"Okay..." I trail off, looking around as if I was looking for Tristan. I look back at Fongratch then the necklace he's holding. "But you have to give me that. You could kill our human man with that before making the deal. We can't risk it."

Fongratch chuckles then hands me the necklace. How is he so dumb? I have never met anything dumber than him.

"I can defeat him in this form, too," Fongratch says. "Now show him to me."

"Okay," I say. "Now, Tristan!"

An arrow then flies through Fongratch's human stomach. Shock is struck on his face as he looks down at the arrow.

"You..." he says, blood coming out of his mouth. "Tricked me."

He breaks the end of the arrow off and pulls it out of himself. He spins to face Tristan and immediately starts laughing.

"This is the man you chose?" Fongratch questions mockingly. "He is merely a boy. He will be easy to defeat."

"We'll see," Tristan says, drawing back the bow string and shooting.

Fongratch catches the arrow right before it hits him.

"Get out of here, Morgan!" Tristan yells, not looking at me. "Get that thing away from him!"

He's right. I can't let Fongratch get this necklace or there's no chance of us beating him. But I can't leave one of my reasons to actually try here by himself. I need to make a quick decision. Tristan takes out the sword and points it at Fongratch.

"Go, Morgan!" Tristan says, still not looking at me; keeping his eyes on Fongratch, waiting for his next move. "Now!"

I turn away and face the battle that is raging. A few Fongratch soldiers are staring at what is happening the start going towards the two fighting. I quickly shoot a few sparks, knocking them out. I'll do this. I'll fend off anymore people from coming.
