Morgan's POV

One week later

________

Let me explain. Avail Firi had a hideout a town over. He has these little minions that have the power of shapeshifting, like him. I think they did. I don't know if I believe that was Tristan or not. Even if it wasn't, I can't have him around me right now. Even though it's been about a week and a half, I still have the pictures in my head of everything the face of Tristan did at that place.

I'm currently in the hospital with a doctor checking the healing of my wounds. Once he's done, he turns to Cal, who's standing in the room.

"I don't think she's gonna be able to be up and moving around for awhile now, Commander," he says.

Cal nods.

"But are her wounds healing?" He asks.

The doctor nods.

"They'll heal but it'll take time."

"Okay, thanks," Cal says.

The doctor leaves and Cal turns to me, sitting down on the chair.

"How're you feeling, Mo?" he asks.

"I feel fine," I say, shifting my position, making me wince. "Ish."

"You just need more time to heal," he says. "Now, Trauno wants me to go find Tristan and put him on a leash."

Cal kisses my hand then gets up. He smiles at me then leaves. Ugh. I know how he feels when he says he hates the med center. There is nothing in here. It's so plain and boring and...just sad. I sigh then stare at the ceiling. That's the only thing I can do.

Ya'know, I was told that being alone in a small room with only your thoughts can drive someone crazy. I think I'm on the verge of. Besides the pain of my wounds, my boredness, and the craziness in my mind, I'm fine.

All of a sudden, the door flings open. Then someone walks in that I don't wanna see. Apollo. I hold my hand out in front of me, ready to shoot lightning at him. It could be Avail Firi again.

"Whoa," he says, putting his hands up in surrender. "Hold your horses."

I get as far away from him as possible.

"Do you know who I am?" he asks.

"I don't know," I say. "You look like Apollo but you can't trust looks these days."

"What're you talking about?" Apollo asks. "Oh. Did Avail Firi use my face?"

I nod my head slowly, keeping my hand up.

"I'm just here to heal your wounds," Apollo says. "You're needed in battle against Fongratch. So put some trust in me."

I stare at him. How can I trust him?

Well, you would think that Avail Firi would use a different face.

But maybe he's just trying to trick me.

I'm pretty sure that's Apollo, though I was sure it was Apollo the first time. I slowly put down my hand and he smiles at me.

"How're you supposed to heal me?" I ask.

"If you didn't know, I'm also the god of healing."

"Oh," I say. "So how does that work?"

"Just let me concentrate," Apollo replies so I shut up.

He looks as if he's more of a lost in thought face but maybe that's concentrating for him. I feel a searing pain all over. I shouldn't have trusted him. I shouldn't have trusted him. I shouldn't have-

The pain stops. I look down where one of my wounds is but it isn't there. I look back up to Apollo but he isn't there, either and the door is closed.

What.

Just.

Happened.

I look at more places where wounds should be. Now, there are only scars left. Whoa. A nurse walks through the door.

"I heard you talking to..." She trails off. "How are your wounds healed?"

"Apollo," I reply.

Her eyes widen.

"I'm gonna go get a doctor," she says. "Stay here."

I slide my feet off the edge of the bed and stare at every visible inch of my body, which is a lot since I wasn't able to change out of the clothes I came back in, ripped up and all. All the wounds are gone, leaving scars. Good thing that actually was Apollo. The doctor rushes in and walks over to me.

"How're you healed?" he says, looking at where wounds were.

"Apollo just," I gesture to the door. "Appeared and healed me."

"Did he say anything?" asks the doctor.

"He said that I was needed in the fight against Fongratch," I shrug.

"Are you-"

"I feel fine," I interrupt. "What, do you not have faith in the gods? Now, can I leave?"

"Do you have any aches?" He asks.

"Not really," I answer.

I get up and start walking towards the door, my legs wobbling. Hey, I've barely walked for two weeks.

"Are you sure you-" the doctor starts.

"I'm fine," I say. "I just need outta this room."

"Wait, we'll get you a change of clothes."

I sigh then stop walking. The nurse leaves and comes back a few minutes later with clothes. They leave and I pull the shade things over the windows. I quickly change and walk out. Ah, different walls, different space, different floor. Awesome.

I walk out the front door, unnoticed. I glance around for my car. Where is it? Oh, found it. I walk quickly over to where my car is and get in. I drive to the apartment buildings and go up to the fourth floor. I'm about to go into my apartment when I hear a door open and close. I turn around and see Cal walking out of his apartment.

"What the," he says. "How are you here?"

"I was visited by Apollo who healed my wounds," I reply.

Cal is silent for a moment.

"Why?"

"He said I was needed in the battle against Fongratch," I say.

"But why you?"

"How is it so surprising that he healed me?" I ask in exasperation. "He's my half brother, ya'know."

Cal puts his hands up in fake surrender.

"Okay, okay," he says.

I go into my apartment. Cal follows me. Ah, my beautiful apartment. Long time no see. I grab a glass and fill it with water. I start drinking. I fall back onto the couch and drink more water.

"So," Cal says. "You never told me how you got out of that place."

I suck in a short breath. It's a complicated thing.

"Or how Avail Firi took you in the first place."

Now, that I can answer.

"It was after that battle," I say. "The one where they broke through the factory wall. Well, it kinda went like this. I was talking to Tristan, and then everyone was suddenly gone. I walked around a bit, and then 'Apollo' showed up. But it wasn't Apollo. It was Avail Firi. He knocked me out and took me to a building."

"How did you get out of it?" Cal is now sitting next to me.

"I... I don't wanna talk about it," I say.

He nods and puts his arm around me. I lean against his side.

"It's okay," he says. "I'll be here for you. I'll always be here."
