Chapter 21

Her head was pounding and felt like it was being repeatedly hit over and over again with a hammer. The bright lights from the room were blinding her. Sniffling was heard as her head turned to the side. The last thing she remembered was being in cooking class before she felt an excruciating pain and fainted. Garfield was sitting on a chair with hot tears painting his grim face. The door opened as her Uncle J'ohnn and another girl walked in.

"Garfield?" her voice was a breathless whisper when she spoke.

"Megan?" he sniffled out before jumping up from his seat.

Her stomach hurt like hell and it felt like it was filled with lava. J'ohnn walked over and put a hand in front of Garfield. "The doctor says to be careful with her Garfield. M'gann's getting her stomach pumped remember" J'ohnn said as Megan's eyes widened. Hearing her name said like that felt so foreign. She hadn't seen her Uncle J'ohnn and Garfield in forever. Though she didn't understand what he meant. "Uncle J'ohnn what happene" she asked raising her hand to her forehead.

She was burning up and everything was still spinning slightly. All in all she felt like she had been hit by a train and filled with lava. "Megan I was worried" Garfield said as he sniffled wiping his tears with the sleeve of his shirt. Her eyes were trained on the girl in the corner. She was leaning against the wall with a hood pulled up over her face. The shadows from the room giving her coverage.

The door clicked open as the clicking of heels echoed through the room. A woman in a pure white lab coat, a stethoscope around her neck, tanned skin, and short jet black hair appeared. "Miss Morse I see your awake" she said scribbling something down on her clipboard. Megan gave a light nod as she squinted her eyes to see better. "What happened?" she asked in a scratchy voice.

"Well Miss Morse you're suffering from alcohol poisoning. Right now we're pumping your stomach from the alcohol which is causing the pain. Your lucky to be alive" she said as Megan gulped.

The last part really struck her in the heart. Since she was awake now there was a proper examination. The stethoscope was pressed against her back as it sent shivers through her body. When that was done the kind doctor smiled and left once again. "M'gann you were raised to be better than this" J'ohnn said as she frowned and nodded. Disappointing him like this made her feel even worse. Though the girl in the corner still intrigued her.

It was weird because she just stared right back at her. She looked at Garfield and her Uncle J'ohnn and mouthed 'who is that' to them. Garfield gave her a surprise look before walking over. "Come on" he said pushing the girl out of the dark corner. Megan still didn't recognize her with the hood shadowing her face. "Here let me just-"

"No" the girl said sternly as he sighed.

The girl pulled her hood down and to Megan's surprise it was Raven. She didn't think that she would be seeing her here of all places. "Raven is currently staying in your room. They got in a car accident and her guardian was no longer able to care for her" J'ohnn said in his usually calming tone. Raven looked down at her feet nervously. "I think its good that you're staying with them Raven. Gar seems to get lonely" Megan said stifling a painful laugh.

"Hey!" he yelled throwing his hands into the air.

"Garfield you complain when I leave to use the washroom" Raven said in a dry voice.

She tugged the white sheet down slightly to see that there was a tube in her side. That was definitely going to scar when it was taken out. This experience was like hitting a brick wall for her. She really needed to clean up her act and stop being a goofball. How was anyone going to take her seriously as a professional chef if she always showed up with a hangover? "Did you guys come here from Happy Harbor?" she asked still in a scratchy voice.
