The school bell blared in her ears as her eyes shot open. The person next to her snorted. Groaning she looked to her right. "Tired?" Damian taunted with a smirk on his face. She growled, burying her face back into her arms. Last night's dinner seemed like it went on forever. Not that she didn't enjoy it. The dinner actually went on quite smoothly. No fights or arguments.

The bell that rang was to dismiss them to lunch. Unfortunately for her Damian dragged her along with him. "I forgot my pencil case back in the class, I'll meet you in the cafeteria" she said as he rolled his eyes and nodded.

"Hurry up, I don't like to be kept waiting" he said before walking away.

Her pencil case was in fact on her desk. All she wanted to do was fall asleep. Last night she didn't get a good rest. The only thing she got was nightmares. One's that terrified her so bad that she couldn't go back to sleep. The hallway was silent as she made her way towards the cafeteria. From behind her she heard snickering. She picked up her pace, the cafeteria was so close. That was until someone grabbed her backpack.

She was thrown to the ground rather roughly. Three girls and a boy stood above her. They had nothing better to do than to make her life miserable. "You're an alien. Do you know what happens to aliens? They get taken away and experimented on" one of the girl's said.

"Yeah. No one likes aliens, Damian is only friends with you because he pities you. There's no way he could ever like, like you" the other girl said.

"You're a freak. Mar'i Grayson is a freak!" the third girl yelled.

The boy that was there laughed before kicking her. There were tears in her eyes. Did they having nothing better to do? He then grabbed her by the collar of her shirt. Before the boy could hit her in the face he was grabbed. Mar'i fell back against the floor. The girls had scattered by now. "Don't you ever lay a finger on her again, if you even look at her I'll make you feel pain you've never felt before!"

"I'm sorry" the boy whimpered.

"You were taking too long. My assumptions were right. Are you okay?" she looked up to see Damian.

He helped her to her feet. Immediately she hugged him tightly. "Why does everybody hate me?" she said, voice trembling.

"Not everyone, I do not hate you" he said.

There was a knock at the door. Turning around she untied the apron and put it to the side. Looking back she pointed at the oven. "Please don't burn while I'm gone" she pleaded before running to the door. Upon opening it she saw a woman standing there. "I hope I didn't come to early" she said as Zatanna shook her head. Moving to the side she let her walk inside. "Give me a sec I just need to go check on the food" she said before running off.

To be honest it got quite lonely when she wasn't in class. Well, she decided to switch her classes to online. She was still shaken after what had happened. Being near the University alone was not something she wanted to be doing. "It smells wonderful" she looked over to see her standing in the doorway.

"Thanks Kori. I don't think I screwed it up, yet" she said as the red head laughed.

Soon the two of them were sitting at the kitchen table. Drinks in hand as they laughed. The two weren't as different as they thought. The front door to the condo opened. "Hey I'm home!" the two of them looked over to see Dick walking inside. Taking his jacket off and tossing it onto the couch. He turned back and stared at the two of them. "Oh, I'm not going to like this am I?" he said as the two laughed.

"It is okay Richard. Zatanna and I are the best of friends" Kori said with a smile.

"I made lunch, want some?" Zatanna asked pointing towards the kitchen.

"Well look at the time I should be picking Mar'i up from school" he said before grabbing his jacket and walking back out.

The two young women could only laugh.

It was late, probably later than she would've liked. They hadn't been out in awhile. Wally thought it would be a great idea to go to a club. Music was blaring in her ears. Lights flashing and people surrounding her. It was hotter than it needed to be inside. "Wally can we leave?" she whined resting her against the table. He was leaning back in his chair. Drink in hand and eyebrow raised.

He placed the now empty glass on the table and leaned forward. It was easy to tell that he was a bit on the tipsy side. "One dance and then we can go" he said standing up. She didn't really want to dance. Or do anything for that matter. This was his stupid idea anyways. He held his hand out to her with a grin on his face. Reluctantly she grabbed onto his hand as he pulled her to her feet.

The dance floor was crowded. However that didn't seem to bother him. Wally was guiding her around the floor. Pulling her close so their skin would touch. Every time he felt her skin graze his it sent sparks through his body. The heat was beginning to get to her. There was double of everyone. The lights flashing didn't help whatsoever. Wally watched her stop for a moment.

She just stared at him blankly. All before collapsing on him. It took less than a second to process what had happened. A couple people gasped and jumped back away from them. The music was still blaring and the lights were still flashing but everyone had stopped moving. Instead turning their attention to the unconscious blonde. "Come on Arty, get up" he mumbled as he placed his hand on her forehead.

It didn't take a fool to feel that she was burning up. Quickly he picked her up and walked through the crowd towards the doors. Everything was dark but she could hear a voice. It was slowly getting louder. Then her eyes opened, just barely. Her head hurt and she felt, off. "Wally, Wally what happened?" she whispered.

"Oh thank god you aren't dead" he said before kissing her forehead.

Relief washed over his body. At least she was conscious. Her skin felt like it was on fire. Yet she couldn't scream out. It was almost as if she really wasn't there. His eyes scanned over her body. Looking up he saw her head falling to the side. Reaching up he grabbed her face. "Artemis stay with me okay?" he said as she drearily looked at him. It was hard to speak. Almost as if something had a hold of her voice.

Finally she managed to get a sentence out. "Something's wrong with me Wally" her voice was barely above a whisper. Dark spots began to take over her vision. She tried to blink them away but it was to no use. "Artemis you need to stay awake. Artemis, Artemis!" she heard him yell. After that she couldn't hear him and everything went dark.
