Chapter 54

A week past and soon paparazzi were all over them. It was hard to even walk outside without a camera flashing. They described her as the literal walking dead. Apparently she shouldn't have even been walking around let alone alive. But she was, and she didn't know why. He could've killed her or made sure she stayed dead. It still made her question everything.

The inner turmoil between whether she should've been saved or not. It just didn't stop. At times she felt like she wasn't worth it. "Mom" she looked down, Mar'i tugging on her wrist lightly. She snapped out of her daze and turned her attention to the girl. "Its six o'clock. We're still going for dinner right?" Mar'i asked as Zatanna looked around. They were inside standing in the living room.

It took a moment for everything to come back to her. She was looking for the key's. "Yeah, yeah we are. I'm just looking for the key's" she said as her eyes scanned the area. They seemed to have just vanished. The whole day she was nervous. Apparently Kori was back and she regained her memory. Which was wonderful; she never wished anything bad to happen to her. They were supposed to all go to dinner tonight.

However it was proven to be quite difficult since the keys had vanished. Mar'i giggled catching the young woman's attention once again. "They were on the kitchen table now let's go" she said pulling her towards the door. Zatanna stumbled forwards as she followed the girl. Just as they stepped outside a car pulled up. The door opened as Dick stepped out. "Dad!" Mar'i yelled letting go of her hand and dashing over.

The girl may be ten but she was still a child at heart. Zatanna slowly walked over with a smile on her face. "So where did this car come from?" she asked looking at the sports car he pulled up in. Before anything else he leaned in and kissed her. "Actually its your car" he said handing her the key's. Her heart seemed to stop for a moment. This was her car? No, she didn't deserve this did she?

It was quite nice, expensive of course. Probably a gift from Bruce, he had money to blow. "Now come on, let's go for a drive. We have to go to dinner" he said with a wink. The engine roared when she turned the key. Her grip tightening around the steering wheel. It was hard not to smile, even if it was a small one. "This is so cool" Mar'i said in awe.

"Yes, yes it is" she said before pressing her foot on the gas and speeding off.

There were a set of exams coming up soon. She only remembered now. The fact that she had not studied and haf forgotten was the worst part. At this point she was cramming. Sitting in the library, luckily not alone this time. It was a study group with a few of her friends that she's met at school. They were all so nice and different. Of course they could never replace the friends she already had but it was nice.

Nice to be hanging out with people. Lately she's been feeling unwanted and cast aside. Then again she wasn't in high school anymore. Everyone had their own problems to deal with first. Sometimes it hurt when they had excuses not to hang out. But she understood, not everyone could party every day of the week. But that part of her was gone. Megan was taking care of herself.

She was learning to be independent and confident. "I'm so going to fail this exam" one of the girl's said.

"You are not going to fail it" Megan said as the girl sighed.

There was four of them including Megan. They were having a great time so far. Even if they were in fact studying. Just being in one another's company was nice. "So what happened with that boy of yours? La'gann was it?" the girl to her right, Annie, she was quite nosy. Megan didn't even want to get started on him. "We're supposed to be studying" Megan said, gaze fixed on her textbook.

"Girl we've been studying for three hours, we deserve a break so spill" Annie said pushing her textbook down onto the table.

Megan looked at all of the girls. She all had their attention. It was more of an awkward subject to speak about than a sore one. "Okay fine, but if I talk about it you're buying the pizza later" she said with a smirk.

"Whatever it takes to hear the juicy details" Annie said.

Maybe if she slammed his head against the wall he would shut up. Probably not. Talking was what he did best. He made sure of it. Which was why he was currently annoying her. Editing this video was more difficult than she expected. It was also ten times as more irritating with him bothering her. "Wally I swear to god I might actually stab you if you don't shut your mouth" she threatened.

"But Arty I'm so bored!" he whined throwing his arms into the air.

He had finished all of his homework an hour earlier. His second class was also late tonight. So she was stuck with him until then. "Go walk Brucely, make a sandwich. Actually I know what you can do" she said with a smirk. Reluctantly she tore her eyes away from her computer screen. Artemis was quite hungry and was in the mood for some Thai cuisine. "Ooh is it going to be fun?" he asked.

"Go and pick up some dinner. Preferably at that Thai restaurant we went to last week. God that was good" she said hearing her stomach growl.

Just talking about it made her hungry. Today she hadn't eaten much. After all she had been filming and editing. This video was for her journalism class. Everyone needed to record a video of themselves reporting on a recent incident. It just so happens that her best friend suddenly coming back from the dead happened. Oh yeah, that was a huge incident. Considering her best friend was dating Dick Grayson.

I mean everyone knew Dick Grayson. Which definitely ensured Artemis to get that A. Plus she got to interview Zatanna earlier today. The reason the editing was taking so long was because there was a lot of background noise. Mar'i had a friend over while she was filming. Nonetheless the interview itself went according to plan. Besides the laughing she had to cut out.

The two of them couldn't take it seriously for the longest time. Artemis suddenly snapped out of her daze when Wally snapped his fingers. "Is anyone home?" he asked as she rolled her eyes.

"Are you getting the dinner or not?" she asked as he sighed.

"Okay fine but you have to get off thaf computer after" he said as she groaned.

"But Wally" she whined dragging his name out.

"But Artemis" he said in a mocking tone.

Before she knew it he was out the door after that. At least she was getting that food she so badly wanted. Brucely suddenly jumped up onto the couch. The dog snuggling up next to her. "Hey Brucely. Daddy will be back soon with dinner don't worry" she said before scratching the dog's head.
