A/N: Just a disclaimer any art I have put in this book or any of my books is not mine. Trust me I am not that damn good at drawing. My level of art is as shown above ^. I can't draw as you can see ;-; Oh and the art I put in here is all off of Pinterest or Google so unfortunately I don't know who the artists are.

School was something horrifying for her. It didn't help that she looked different. The kids there would pick on her. As well as say things about her mother. Usually she would suppress all of her hatred. Today was different. A girl said something absolutely horrible about her mother. Mar'i was smaller than most of her classmates. Which made it easier for them to pick on her.

After that comment though she got angry. Which was when a fight ensued. By now she was getting lectured by her father.

"I don't know what to say Mar'i" he ran a hand through his hair whilst pacing around

"I don't know what to say Mar'i" he ran a hand through his hair whilst pacing around.

"You got into a fight!" he yelled.

Her eyes were trained on the pavement below. There was such anger and disappointment in his voice. She tried, she really did. Tears began to well in her eyes. He didn't know why she started the fight. He saw the tears begin to fall. She sniffled wiping at her face. "She started talking about mom" her voice trembled as she spoke. His blue eyes softened as he sat down on the bench next to her.

The cold air nipping at their skin. He pulled her into a hug as she began to sob. Everything lately has been so hard, especially for her. Zatanna was as close to a mother as she had. Now she was gone and the girl had nobody. Her only friend in school was in fact Damian. But since their childish fight she really had no one. He regretted yelling at her now. "I'm sorry sunshine, so sorry" he whispered smoothing her hair down to try and calm her down.

She sniffled. She just wanted all of this to be over with. "Why did she have to go?" her voice trembled as she spoke. He just shook his head. How was he supposed to answer that question? "The world is cruel Mar'i, it always will be" he said in a low voice.

"Is that why I don't have any cousins?" she asked.

"Yeah Mar'i, that's why" he said in a low voice.

His head was pounding like being hit over the head with a hammer repeatedly. A groan escaped his lips as he rubbed his eyes. Sitting up he tried to think back to the night before. He and Wendy were out skating. Slowly he dragged his hands down his face. The two of them went to a nearby bar afterwards. Everything after the first few drinks were a blur to him.

The light pouring into the room gave him a headache. It took a moment for his vision to focus. He felt like he had been dragged through hell and back. The scenery was definitely a change. He didn't recognize the room he was currently in. The pastel blue walls and paintings around the room confused him. He heard a tired sigh from beside him.

He felt his whole body freeze over. Muscles locking up as he stared straight ahead. Most of last night was a blur. He couldn't remember anything. Slowly he turned his head to see Wendy lying next to him. Very much asleep and hardly clothed. Luckily the blankets were covering her up. "Oh shit" he whispered to himself.

She heard a voice, blue eyes fluttering open. Immediately she was met with a killer headache. Sitting up she rubbed her eyes tiredly. He watched as she glanced at him before yawning. "Oh hey Conner" she said nonchalantly. At this point his mind was blown. He didn't know how she was acting so normal about this. It took her a moment to sit there to process this.

Wendy had to do a double take. Turning her head she saw him sitting next to her. "Conner!" she screamed before jumping back. Within seconds she was on the floor tangled within the blankets. Quickly he pulled his pants on to look somewhat decent. Her head poked up from the side of the bed. "Did we?" she asked, a look of shock and horror in her eyes.

"Yeah" he could feel the heat rising to his face.

"Oh. Okay, okay I know how to handle this" she said standing up.

Holding the blanket up to cover herself from his view. She ran her free hand through her hair. He watched as she began to pace back and forth. The pale blue blanket dragging across the floor behind her. If anything she looked like a Roman goddess. "Okay I don't know how to handle this" she said before taking a seat on the bed. Her eyes went between Conner and the window.

There was an awkward tension in the room. He didn't know what to say to try to make this situation any better. The headaches they both had were killer. "I'm seriously considering throwing myself out my window right now" she said as he rolled his eyes. There was a moment of silence before they started laughing. "Do you remember anything?" he asked curiously.

The two of them now sitting next to each other. It was hard to keep this smile off of her face. He had her lipstick smudged onto his face. "Nope" she said popping the 'p' as she spoke. He let his face rest in his hands. Using awkward to describe this situation was an understatement.

Her phone was ringing non stop. At this point she was contemplating throwing it through the window. Last night she didn't receive much sleep. Her hours were spent helping Wally finish all of his homework. A growl escaped her lips as she sat up. Grabbing her cellphone she answered the call. "Whoever the hell this is I'm trying to sleep!" she yelled through the phone.

"Good morning to you too" Wally said, she could hear the smirk in his voice.

If strangling him was an option she would totally do it. Fortunately for him she was nowhere near him. "Your a dumbass" she said rubbing her eyes. It was late, luckily today she had a later class. Sleeping in this late still didn't make her any less tired. "How am I the dumbass?" he asked curiously.

"You're always doing something that can earn you the title dumbass" she said with a smirk.

It was true. Sometimes he did the most idiotic things. Brucely was curled up at the end of the bed. "Anyways I was just checking in since you hadn't called me yet" he said as she rolled her eyes. Of course she hadn't called him. Did he forget that she required sleep as well? "Yeah, yeah. Look I'm tired Wally and I would really like to go back to sleep an-" she stopped mid-sentence to hear a scream.

For a moment she stayed silent. Her heart beating through her chest. Eyes wide as she sat there as quiet as possible. "Babe, babe what was that? Artemis. Artemis I'm coming home now stay where you are" he said before hanging up. Dropping the phone it hit the covers beside her. Brucely was up and beginning to growl. Her hand reached out and opened the drawer to her bedside table.

Her fingers found a knife, it was her mother's. It was given to her after her mother's death. Quietly she got up and left her room. Bart was still in the condo with her. There was another scream, it sent chills down her spine. Slowly she made her way down the hallway. That's when she turned around the corner into the living room.
