"No, no, no! Stay away from me! Don't touch me!" A black hand reached out at me and took a hold of my arm. I felt something tug at my feet. "Let go of me! Let me go!" I fell backwards and landed on my back. I landed with a loud thud. I was trapped in a sea of darkness. My lungs collapsed. It felt like my life was slowly drifting away. I let out a loud scream.
All of a sudden, I heard a soft voice calling out my name. "Brianna. Brianna. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up." A gentle hand was pressed up against my shoulder. I jolted in fear. I woke up in a terrible fright. Beads of sweat were slowly dropping down from my forehead. To my surprise, I found myself lying on my bedroom floor. I was shaking, violently. I saw Frodo standing right in front of me. His blue eyes were like giant saucers. He was kneeling down right beside me.
He wrapped an arm around my waist and held me close to him. "Oh my goodness!" Frodo exclaimed. "Are you alright?!" I could feel his hands trembling and shaking. My head collapsed into Frodo's chest. A stream of tears rushed down my face. My heart was paralyzed with fear. It had felt like an icy spear had been shoved through it. "Oh, F-F-Frodo! It was so....horrible!"
Frodo began to rock me in gentle, swaying motions. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. "Oh, dear." he said, in a soft, pacifying voice. "Oh, my dear. I'm so sorry that this happened to you." "I didn't mean to scare you like that, Frodo. It was all my fault." I masked my face with my hands and continued to cry.
Frodo placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. I could hear him talking to me, in a soft, gentle, and nurturing voice. "No, Brianna. It's not your fault. It's normal to have nightmares. I was really worried about you. When I heard you falling from your bed, there were so many thoughts going through my head. I got up as quickly as I could. When I opened up your bedroom door and I saw you tossing and turning and sobbing on the floor...it...broke my heart. But, you have nothing to worry about, now. I'm here, now. I'm here."
I was sniffling violently. My voice became shaky and unsteady. All of a sudden, I fell down and curled up on the floor, lying in the fetal position. My stomach felt like it had caved in. I pressed my hands against it and let out a loud howl. "I...I...can't get up. Help...me, Frodo." I was gasping for air.
Frodo walked up behind me and rested his gentle hands on my waist. He tucked his thumbs underneath my underarms and tried to lift me from the ground. Frodo cradled me in his arms and carefully set me down on my mattress. He discovered that the bedsheets and the duvet cover were lying on the floor so he took them and folded them over top of me. He tucked the corners of the duvet cover snugly around my neck.
I watched as Frodo sat down at my bedside. He stroked my hair and kissed me affectionately on my forehead. His lips were soft and cold, like snow. Frodo's wide blue eyes followed the teardrops that were flowing down my cheeks.
His face looked like someone had violently slapped it. Frodo was at a loss for words. His right hand reached out towards me. Frodo was begging me to hold onto to it. As I clutched onto his hand, he opened his mouth and began to speak. "Is there anything that you need?" he asked, in a concerned and worried tone of voice.
"H..H...Hold me." I replied. Frodo walked to the opposite side of the bed and curled up beside me. He held me protectively in his arms. I rested my head against his slowly beating heart. Frodo rested his chin upon my head and rocked me back and forth, in gentle, swaying motions, like how a boat slowly rocks against waves in an ocean.
"F..Frodo, I'm so scared. I don't think I'll be able to fall asleep after what happened." "Shhh, shhh, my precious girl. It's all over now. It's over. It's over." Frodo's voice gave me chills as he spoke. "Remember, that all nightmares, real or imagined, have an end. They always do. Now, it's time for you to rest. Close your eyes and listen to my voice. Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep."
I let out a loud yawn. I stretched out my arms and wrapped them over Frodo's neck. Frodo gave me one last kiss on my forehead and fell asleep, while embracing me in his arms.
