My P.O. V.

Merry and I were both sitting in the East-Farthing Woods underneath a tall oak tree, having a lovely picnic. Merry had packed some large juicy strawberries, carrots, mushrooms, savoury biscuits with jars of sweet honey and rhubarb jelly, a loaf of bread, and two kinds of cheese.

I was quietly nibbling on a biscuit that I topped with a bit of rhubarb jelly and Merry was helping himself to most of the strawberries. I saw him shove a couple into his mouth all at once. Some of the juice had dripped down Merry's chin; he wiped it away with the corner of his jacket sleeve.

"How are you enjoying yourself, Bri?" Merry asked me, while digging into his picnic basket for some more strawberries. "Do you like the food?"

"Yes, I do." I answered. "This is wonderful, Merry. Thank you for bringing me out here."

"You don't have to thank me." said Merry, modestly. "I mean, it's the least I could do. You and I deserve to have......"

Merry was suddenly caught off guard. He heard somebody calling his name in the distance. The voice was high pitched and full of energy.

Out of the blue, I saw Pippin running in our direction. There was a spring in his step and his light brown locks were flying into the air. I wondered why Pippin came here. I guessed that he wanted to speak with Merry for some reason.

"...Some time to ourselves." Merry continued. There was a hint of annoyance in his voice. "What on earth is he doing 'ere?"

"Merry! Merry!" Pippin shouted at the top of his lungs.

"What are you doing here, Pippin?" Merry shot Pippin a dirty look.

"There's something I need to tell you, Merry." Said Pippin. "It's really important!"

Merry shook his head. "Can't it wait? Can't you see that I'm busy here? I'm having a picnic with Brianna."

Pippin fixed his alert eyes on me and grinned. "Oh, hello, Breeze!" Breeze was the nickname that Pippin had given me. "How are you?"

"I'm good, I guess." I answered, in a small voice. "I was having a picnic with Merry."

"Ooh, a picnic!!" Cheered Pippin. "That's wonderful! Mind if I join you two?"

"I'm really sorry, Pippin." I said. "But, Merry and I were...."

All of a sudden, I found that Pippin had settled himself in between Merry and me and that he was already helping himself to some mushrooms that he found in Merry's picnic basket.

"Thank you so much, Bri! Thank you, Merry! You know, it's nice when we can all sit together and enjoy....."

Merry crossed his arms and shook his head, in disbelief. "Pip-pin!" He grumbled. "We never invited you to join us! Can't you scram?! What is it that you want?!"

I felt a bit embarrassed when Pippin came over and sat down beside us. Merry and I were supposed to have a nice, quiet picnic together. But, when Pippin came over, all of that changed. I didn't want to say anything about it, so I got up and told Merry that I needed to leave for a second.

"I'll be right back, Merry. I won't go too far."

Merry sighed. "It's fine, Bri. Anyways, I have to deal with Pippin for a quick second and I promise that we can get back to our picnic. Alright?" Merry got up and gave me a quick hug and kiss on the cheek.

"Alright." I said. I tucked my hands into my pant pockets and went for a quiet walk around the woods. I made sure that I wasn't going too far, so that I could find Merry again.

Merry's P. O. V

After Brianna left, I decided to have a little chat with Pippin. I couldn't believe that he would interrupt MY picnic!

"Is he that stupid?!" I thought to myself.

I found Pippin trying to sneak a few of my mushrooms from my basket. I caught him and smacked his hands as soon as he could reach into it.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?!" I exclaimed. "Trying to steal my mushrooms after that little stunt you just pulled?! Don't you know how much you've embarrassed me and Brianna?! You ought to be ashamed of yourself, Pip! What do you have to say for yourself? Hmm?""

"I'm....sorry?" Said Pippin, who was trying his best not to smile.

"'Sorry' isn't going to make everything all better, is it? Is it, Pippin?" I said to him.

"No, I guess not." Said Pippin. "Look, I'm sorry, alright? I promise it won't happen again! I promise."

I've heard it all before. "I'm sorry, Merry! I promise it won't happen again! I promise! I'm sorry!" I wasn't sure if I could accept his apology. Why does he always have to screw everything up? Pippin never learns. He never does.

I feel bad for Brianna. I could imagine how she's feeling right now. Probably upset. And frightened. I hope she comes back. That poor girl. I will try my best to make it up to her.

After arguing with Pippin for a while, I finally talked some sense into him. I just hope that he knows what he did wrong and that he won't do it again. Oh, and Pippin also told me that he tried to steal from Farmer Maggot. Again. Why does he always go looking for trouble? I don't understand it.

I heard Merry call my name. I ran back to him as quickly as I could. I noticed that Pippin was gone.

"Where's Pippin?" I asked, curiously.

"Eh, don't worry about him." Merry told me. "I'm sorry about all of this, Bri. This was all Pippin's fault. I promise that I'll make it up to you. I promise."

"It's alright, Merry." I said. "I understand. Maybe we can have a picnic tomorrow?"

"Or maybe I could invite you over to my home in Buckland for some tea and biscuits?" Merry suggested. There was a sparkle in his curious light blue eyes. "I know you'd like that, wouldn't you, Brianna?"

I nodded my head and smiled. "That sounds wonderful. I'd love to come over."

"I knew you would." Said Merry, warmheartedly.
