It was such a wonderful evening. Merry and I were having desert at The Green Dragon. We were both seated at a wooden table. Merry ordered a strawberry rhubarb tart for us to share, along with freshly baked biscuits, assorted fruits, some seed cakes, and some warm apple cider to drink.

"How's your dessert, Brianna?" Merry asked me, while taking a bite of the strawberry rhubarb tart.

"It's absolutely wonderful!" I smiled back at him. "Thank you, Merry. But, I don't think I'll be able to finish all of this food. I wish I had a bigger stomach." I laughed. "I'm almost full."

Merry shovelled some of the tart onto his fork. "Come on, Bri. Why don't you have some more dessert?" he insisted. "I know you want to." I knew I couldn't resist. The tart looked so delicious.

"Have some more dessert, my angel. Let me feed you." Merry set his fork down and reached for his spoon. He piled some of the tart onto it and shoved it slowly into my mouth.

I smiled with delight. The tart was so warm and scrumptious. "Merry, that was so sweet of you." I blushed. "You didn't have to do that."

"Yes, I did." Merry chuckled. "Say, Brianna. You want to know what's sweeter than this dessert? You."

My heart fluttered. I was in complete shock. I felt like I was in Heaven. Merry was such a gentleman. He has such a way with words.

"Aww, Merry! That's so kind of you to say that! You always know how to make me smile!"

"I sure do. Oh, Brianna, you're such a beautiful lass." Merry's blue eyes sparkled with curiosity.
"Heaven sent me an angel. I must be the luckiest Hobbit in the Shire." Merry turned around, leaned forward and gave me a tender and affectionate kiss.

"I love you, Brianna." he whispered soothingly in my ear. "I'll always love you."

"I love you, too, Merry." I whispered. "I love you, too."
