When I wake up in the morning I'm all alone in Christian's bed and there's a glass of water on his bedside table.
He must have brought it in after I fell asleep.
But why didn't he stay with me?
There's a knock on the door and I tell the person to come in.
Chris's cook walks in with a tray covered in my breakfast and puts it down on the table.
"Good morning miss Righters. Here's your breakfast"
"Good morning and thank you Louisa" I smile at her.
"How was your night, if I may ask?"
"It was great, thank you. How was yours?"
"Couldn't be better. Is there anything else I can get you miss Righters?"
"No, thank you and please stop calling me 'miss Righters'. It makes me feel old" I whine.
"I'm sorry ma'am. It's just formal" she laughs.
I roll my eyes at her calling me 'ma'am'. I've been telling her to call me by my actual name for as long as I've known her.
I hate when they address me like that. All of Christians and my mom's servants do it. Only Cordelia doesn't. Maybe that's because she and I are very close.
"May I take my leave now ma'am?" she says.
"No, wait. Where's Christian? Where'd he sleep last night?"
"Mr. King is in your room ma'am. And that's where he spend the night"
"Okay. Thank you. You may leave now"
"You're welcome ma'am" she smiles and walks out.
That's strange. It kind of bothers me not knowing why he didn't stay with me. Why did he sleep in my room instead. Did I say or do something wrong last night?
I think hard trying to remember something I said that might have gotten him upset, but nothing comes up.
I take my mug of coffee and bring it to my lips to take a sip.
I eat all of my breakfast and go into the bathroom to brush my teeth. I grab a new toothbrush to use, since mine is in my room.
I take a hot shower to relax my tense muscles and putt one of Chris's white dress shirts and his boxer short on. I'll get clothes from my room later.
The white shirt is short in my perspective, but long enough to cover the important parts. It goes till my mid tights and the sleeves are longer than my arms.
I take my phone and empty tray and carry it to the kitchen even though I know Louisa would come to pick it up.
Before I leave the kitchen my phone starts ringing.
Eldridge.
"Hi Eldridge" I say into the phone.
"Hi Chan. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out today at my house and do something fun with Drew?"
"Yeah sure! Sounds fun! What time?"
"How about seven pm?"
"Yeah that's great. I'll be there"
"Okay cool. You can wear something nice"
"Uum okay. Are we going somewhere?"
"No. I just...."
"It's okay. I will"
"Great. See you later babe" he says and hangs up.
Since when did I become his babe? And why should I dress up if were just going to hang out with Drew?
Anyway. I'll just go see what Chris is doing.
I make my way to my room and open it without knocking, knowing that Chris is in there and might be naked.
Nothing I haven't seen before, right?
"There's something called knocking, you know. What if I was naked" he asks, voicing out my thoughts.
"First of all this is my room and second of all it wouldn't be something I haven't seen before. And good morning to you too" I say with attitude. My hands resting on my hips.
"Touché mademoiselle" he answers raising his coffee mug with a grin.
"Why didn't you sleep with me last night?"
"Uum.... Because we agreed on not doing that anymore?"
I didn't realize what my question sounded like until now. The look on his face tells me he knows what I meant, but he just chose to be a dick.
"That's not what I meant you idiot and you know that!"
He takes a sip of his coffee to hide his grin.
"So?" I push.
"So what?"
"Why didn't you.... I mean... Uum.... You fucking know what I mean Christian!"
He laughs at my struggle and I just feel irritated.
"I don't know. My feet just lead me to this room, I guess. Your pillow smells like Chaniëlle" he tries to explain, but he doesn't make any sense to me. I lift an eyebrow and look at him realizing that that was his explanation.
I decide to let it go and just....talk about something else.
"What are we doing today?" I ask him.
"How about we sleep all day. We'll only wake up to eat and pee"
"Lazy ass. No for real. I'll be going somewhere at seven, but I don't know what else to do in the day"
"Oh... Where are you going?"
For a minute I'm not sure if I should tell him exactly where I'm going, but he's my best friend so why not?
"I uuh... I'm going to his house.... Just to hang out with Drew... Uum... You know.... Just" I shrug.
I know I don't have to mention his name for him to know who I'm talking about.
I can see the small smile on his lips casing away, making place for a fake one.
And there's that feeling again. That feeling of guilt. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything to him. I look down and my knotted fingers, feeling bad for bringing Eldridge up so early in the morning.
"That's nice. Will you come back here after?"
"Yeah. Where did you think I'd go?" I roll my eyes.
"No. Just... Asking"
An awkward silence falls between us for a short period that felt like hours. He doesn't look at me. His eyes are fixed on the coffee mug in his hands.
"Christian"
"Yes love" he answers and looks up into my eyes. His voice is soft. So soft it heats my heart up.
"I want you to be honest with me okay?"
"About what?"
"Just promise you'll give an honest answer"
"I promise"
I stay silent thinking of how to ask my question, while his eyes are following my every move.
"What do you really think of Eldridge and I? Will I lose my best friend as I know him, because of Eldridge?"

Hey guys🙋. I'm sorry for any typos. Let me know what you think.
What do you think Chris's answer will be?
Don't forget.
