"This too?" Drew asks as we walk through the isle. She's holding a bag of seasoning cubes in her hand.

"Yeah sure." I say knowing that we don't need it at al. She's been adding random things to the cart as I just pushed it. It's just so nice to see her have fun and be a kid.

"Can we get gummy bears too? I just want one." She says in another isle. I nod and she gets a bag. Before I knew it she opened it and took just one out before putting it in her mouth.

"No don't do that." I laugh looking around if someone saw that. "Just give me the bag. We'll buy all of them."

"Okay. Tomorrow is my teacher's birthday." She says dancing through the isle. "Can we buy something to make her like, like, like a package or a... thingy?"

"You mean like a present or something?" I ask and she nods excitedly. "Yeah sure. We could look for something to buy her."

"No, I want to make something myself." She says and I agree. We talk about random stuff as we walk through the many isles.

"That looks like my diarrhea." She says pointing at a colourful notebook with a D on the cover.

"Your what?" I ask confused.

"My diarrhea. The one I use to draw." She sighs and I laugh when I understand what she means.

"Your Diary? It's called a diary. Diarrhea means something else." I explain to her.

"You have a brilliant daughter. She looks just like you." An elderly woman says. I thank her without correcting her and we continue walking after she has a short talk with Drew.

I swear this kid talks to everyone she sees, which can be bad.

"Look, it's aunty Selena." She says suddenly causing the person a few steps away from us to turn around. Selena and I look each other straight in the eyes.

"Wait. Don't." I say when I notice that she's taking steps backwards. "What's happening to you? Where have you been? Why are you hiding from us?" I ask.

"I... I'm not. I just... I have a lot going on and... I can't really talk right now. I gotta go." She says stumbling over her words.

"No you're not going anywhere until you talk to me. What's going on? Does it have anything to do with me? Is there something I should know?"

"You ask so many questions at once. I really gotta go. I'll text you." She says walking backwards. She rushes out of the store and knocks a few boxes that were neatly stacked up on top of each other down on her way out.

"Where is aunty Selena going?" Drew asks.

"I don't know honey. I don't know." We get a few last items and leave the store with a car full of plastic bags.

After we eat when we get home Drew and I start on the present for her teacher. After tinkering for some time, tears start rolling over her cheeks.

"Drew what's wrong?" I ask worried.

"It's not right." She says pointing at the card she made.

"Well, I think it looks beautiful Drew." I say meaning it. The kid's got a talent.

"I want my daddy to help." She whispers.

"What?" I ask so she can say it clearly.

"I want my daddy." She says and starts crying. She gets up and walks towards me. She puts her arms around my neck and continues crying softly. "I want to see my daddy."
