"Baby brother, you had the best idea in the world," Kuya Axel commended Thomas.
Out of nowhere, Thomas just came up with a very bright idea. The three of us, me, him and Ty will be on a week-long trip to Maldives for Thomas' birthday. He just blurted out his plans during one dinner at the Torreses. His Mom was adamant about it but she wasn't able to do something because Thomas has already arranged everything.
Thomas' mother wanted to throw a big party for her son. She said it's Thomas' first birthday with Tyrone and she kind of wanted to celebrate that too. She was on all out convincing her son to postpone the trip but Thomas did not budge.
Tita Jane is very passionate about her family. She does things way over top all of the time that it's starting to get to the nerves of her children. It's not a bad thing, if it were up to me. I'm a mother too and I get her. It's just that she expresses it... well very extravagantly.
So now, Kuya Axel is bringing the three of us to the airport.
"I just don't want the stress from Mom on my birthday," Thomas casually said. He is seated at the passenger's seat while Ty and I are on the backseat.
"I know! And you shut her out by going on this trip. Brilliant. I am taking notes, Bro," Kuya Axel amusedly said.
"If we stay for my birthday, who knows what she will prepare. Baka ipasarado ang buong Taguig," Thomas said. It's funny but it's not far from reality if we're talking about the Torres matriarch.
"Grabe naman kayo," I butted in. "Ganun talaga pag nanay ka. You will give everything for your children."
"Kahit ipasarado ang buong Taguig, Ara? Ikaw? Ipapa-sarado mo ba ang buong Pampanga para kay Ty?" Kuya Axel asked.
It made me chuckle, "Number one, I do not have the resources and connections like your mother's. Number two, I don't think Tyrone will equal my enthusiasm if I prepare for him like that."
"Exactly, Ars. She just does things way too much. For Mariel and Kath, I don't mind. Pero pati samin ni Kuya, hindi naman namin trip yung mga party na ino-organize ni Mommy eh," Thomas said.
"Okay fine," I said. "But I at least, appreciate her."
"I appreciate her more than anything, Ara but sometimes you have to stay firm and not get easily swayed if you're talking to Mom. Kaya nga dinala ko na kayo, kasi I know hindi ka maka-hindi kay Mommy," he said. He has a point.
"Okay sige na po," I said.
Then Thomas turned to face me on the backseat, "And I want to spend time with you and Tyrone without sharing you to anybody. It's our first travel together."
I just smiled my kilig and tried my best not to get red as beet.
"Okay. Let's just stop it right there, before you two get cheesy and I might vomit," Kuya Axel said.
