"Mammy, come play!"
Cheryl smiled to herself as she looked up from standing at the water's edge watching the waves, now seeing Sophia and Liam sitting on the sand across from one another trying to build the best sandcastle possible. Everything was great out here - better than expected.
They'd been in Cape Town, South Africa for just over a week now staying at Cheryl's discreet villa she had in the luxurious vacation spot. They were set to spend the remainder of the year out here; planning to stay through Christmas and for a few days after the New Years. Cheryl couldn't even deny that this was what she needed, especially after the year she'd had, hell especially after the last few months that she'd had really. Out here, with no work or anything to attend to, she felt completely free and at ease. In fact, it had been the first time in a very long time that she'd felt so great.
And she knew that part of the reason she felt so fantastic was currently sat in the sand building a sandcastle with her daughter...
It was no doubt that Liam was making everything a million times better than it already was. Of course he had been an incredible boyfriend over the last four months, but Cheryl was feeling so consumed by the love she had for him that she was constantly feeling like she was floating on a cloud. She loved kissing and cuddling him, she loved watching him with Sophia, she loved how much he cared about both of them, he loved how he was so kind and gentle - she just loved everything about him.
She breathed out and took one last look at the waves before finally making her say over to her two favorite people. She sat down beside Sophia, giggling to herself at how hard the two of them were concentrating.
"You two are taking this sandcastle business far too seriously." she teased.
"Babe, you don't get it – this is serious business; the little mermaids and stuff have to have the most amazing sand castle ever so I have to help their best friend make the house." Liam replied in a matter of fact manner as he winked at his girlfriend; it making Cheryl giggle whilst her heart melted as she loved how much her daughter and Liam got along.
"Mammy, Liam done all the decorations with a little shell; he said the house has to be pretty for the little mermaids." Sophia replied, bouncing on her bum as she looked up at her mother. Cheryl simply giggled some more as she draped an arm around her daughter, kissing her head.
"Well I'm glad Liam is helping you because I'm rubbish at things like this; he's so creative isn't he?" she replied before putting Liam on the spot, knowing how much it made him blush when she brought up how talented he was.
And of course she was right, as Liam was working on the sandcastle and trying to pretend he wasn't listening, though she could see his cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
"I think he's so creative and cool, Mammy; like the best sandcastle builder ever!" the little girl burst out, giggling slightly before standing up. Liam chuckled softly and shook his head, looking up as well as Sophia came around to his side.
"It's all done then?" he asked.
"Yes," she burst out before wrapping her arms around his neck from behind, "Thank you Liam for helping me; my daddy never helped me build sandcastles before."
Cheryl sighed slightly and looked away at the mention of JB, while Liam simply smiled sadly and squeezed Sophia's arm to affectionately. He knew that Cheryl secretly didn't like how little JB had been involved with their daughter even before the divorce; it being Cheryl who would go above and beyond to spend time with their child even though she was the one who had a major full time job. However, Sophia had always been her priority and she hated how JB just could act like he never cared in the first place. She almost wanted to scream at him to man up and take some responsibility since he was the one who led to Sophia, however she also knew that there wasn't much of a point as people simply could not be changed – no matter how hard someone else wanted them to change.
