"What the hell is going on?!"
And now Cheryl was frozen as Liam stood there, looking like he could kill someone and truthfully, she was a bit terrified as she'd never seen him look so angry before.
"Came to do a bit of work?" He raised an eyebrow. Cheryl swallowed.
"I did, I swear I did but then he came in and he came on to me Liam, I swear!" she told him, tears filling her eyes whilst Liam was frowning at the both of them.
"Tongue tying with your ex husband isn't work, Chez; so what was all that about me coming over later?" he shot back.
"Liam, I swear – you know I wouldn't do this to you." Cheryl replied, rushing over and grabbing his arm. Ashley smirked slightly, softly chuckling and shaking his head.
"I'll call you later, Cheryl." He smirked. Cheryl glared at him as he left, the door slamming shut behind him whilst Liam remained glaring at Cheryl.
"I can't fucking believe you." He grumbled. Cheryl swallowed, tears flowing down her cheeks as she looked up at him.
"Liam, you know me; you know I wouldn't do this to you." She told him. Liam glared at her, reaching for the door handle.
"Tell Sophia I love her and it's nothing to do with her, but I won't be home for a little while," He sighed, "I think me and you need to take a little break from each other."
And Cheryl felt her heart break all over again, an actual pain shooting through her chest and causing her to feel like she was going to faint.
"Liam - please." She whimpered before crying even more as he came over and kissed her forehead.
"There's too much going on right now; I'll support you and Sophia through the trial, but just a little break for now." He told her. He then left out and closed the door behind him; Cheryl collapsing onto the floor and sitting against her desk as she cried her eyes out, feeling like her world was crashing down around her.

Cheryl stayed at the office a little later than planned; finally leaving around five-thirty though really, she'd just locked herself in her office and cried for the majority of her time there. When she finally left and got home, she let herself in to find Garry in the lounge with Sophia and Joan, the three of them watching a film together while the dogs were curled up in their dog beds by the radiator.
"Chez, you okay?" Garry asked, noticing her expression. Cheryl simply shrugged and made her way upstairs, slamming her bedroom door behind her which left Garry and Sophia exchanging a confused glance. Sophia had earlier been wondering where Liam was, but Garry had simply explained that Liam was seeing his parents for a few days and to not worry though truthfully, he could see by his sister's face that something else had happened.
Upstairs, Cheryl was crying quietly to herself as she stood under the shower head, allowing the warm water to rain down over her whilst she sat curled up on the shower seat, crying to herself. This was a far cry from the tough woman who used her wit and sass to argue her way to victory in courtrooms; it seeming that the tough lawyer who never backed down from a fight was now gone and sat curled up in the shower, broken and lost and confused. She knew she needed to not stress too much as to not harm her baby, but she had so much on her plate now that she felt like giving up even though the fire inside of her wouldn't even allow that to happen. Somehow and someway, she had to put herself back together again.
After her shower, she got out and dried off before dressing in a pair of grey pajama bottoms and a pale pink vest top. Just as she was brushing her wet hair, a knock on the door interrupted her thoughts, leading her to shout for whoever it was to come in as she tidied her hair into a top knot.
