Chapter 29 (Girl V.S. Boy)
"Looking good, guys."
I grinned as we all saw the posters up and down the halls advertising the girls versus boys competition next week.
"How are the games?" I asked, turning towards Jacob and Janice.
Jacob nodded. "Pretty good. You guys posted up the games schedule too, right?"
"Yeah, we did. We used up a lot of ink and markers for that," Matthew said, rolling his eyes.
I turned to Brandon and Rachel. "Decorations okay?"
"Yeah, they are pretty awesome. A bunch of streamers and stuff lining up the walls. It's good," Rachel said, grinning. All in all, I was grateful for her help.
"Dinner at my house to celebrate this finished business," Jacob said, clapping his hands together.
We all agreed and started to leave. Matthew gave me a light push as he walked past me. "Double date," he whispered.
I sighed, rolling my eyes, grabbing Brandon's arm to stop him from walking away. "Hey, can we talk?" I asked.
Brandon nodded, looking confused. "Sure? What's up, Ella?"
"I'm just wondering, okay? Well, uh... You're okay with me and Reed, right? It's not tense or whatever?" I asked, frowning.
Brandon raised an eyebrow, chuckling. "Is it not supposed to be okay?"
I paused for a minute, not knowing what to say. Then, I carried on. "Well, you'll be fine with a double date with us tomorrow?"
"A double date?" Brandon repeated. "That's kind of... Lame, no offense."
Typical thing for Brandon to say. "Lame?" I asked, sounding pissed while crossing my arms.
Brandon shrugged. "It's corny and I don't understand the need for them."
I rolled my eyes. "Just consider it, okay?"
"Why can't you just ask Janice and Jacob?" Brandon asked.
Oh, shit. Didn't think of that part. I thought quickly and answered. "Well, I trust your opinion of Reed more than theirs. I need you to check Reed out for me."
Brandon groaned. "Isn't that Janice's job?"
I frowned. Was Brandon jealous? Is that why he was so resistant to a double date? Or did he really think that double dates were lame? I was thinking of saying "nevermind" when Brandon interrupted me. "You know what? Nevermind, I'll go. Where is it?" he asked.
"Okay, no offense Elle, but I cannot make you sexy."
I gasped. "Why not?"
Janice chuckled. "You look too innocent."
I frowned. "Well then, thanks a lot," I said, rolling my eyes.
Janice tsked at me as she looked me over. She moved her arms around me to play with my hair, pulling it up and letting it fall down. "Hmm..." she mumbled to herself, concentrating.
