OH and song at the side is the song they danced to during the slow dance :) They ALWAYS play this song at our dances at my school LOL.

Chapter 9 (Girl V.S. Boy)

We ate dinner hungrily, occasionally looking up to talk to each other. Everytime I looked up, it was to look at Brandon, who was always pushing his food across his plate back and forth with a blank stare.

I frowned. What’s on his mind? He didn’t seem to be liking this as much. Then the music started with a slow song, Differences by Ginuwine. I grinned. This was such a great song. I looked and saw Janice and Jacob eagerly made their way to the dance floor.

I smiled at Janice who was blushing as she put her arms around Jacob and danced with him, a content smile on his face. They were so cute together!

“Now, I do believe you said the first slow song,” I heard someone say.

I looked up and saw Reed, who was holding out his hand for me, a soft smile on his face. I chuckled. “I don’t break promises,” I said, taking his hand and letting him lead me to the dance floor.

I put my arms around him as he put his arms around my waist as we danced in time to the music. I closed my eyes, leaning my head against his shoulder. I felt so warm in his arms even though there were no sparks. But whatever; sparks was only in the cheesy, romantic movies. This was no movie; this was a reality.

I opened my eyes and suddenly, my heart felt like it was going to drop into my stomach. There, I saw Brandon and some girl I didn’t recognize, slow dancing the same way I was with Reed. I swallowed, trying to get the lump to go away, but it didn’t.

Brandon held her softly in his arms, as if she was extremely fragile, like glass. I have never seen him act so gentle before. The girl looked like she was enjoying herself, smiling as she laid her head on his shoulder. I couldn’t help but feel a bit of dislike for her.

I stared at them for awhile before Brandon looked up and saw me. He gave me a grin and then leaned in and kissed the girl on the cheek. I immediately sunk my head into Reed’s shoulder again, not wanting to see that.

“What’s wrong?” I heard Reed ask.

I shook my head. “Nothing. I’m just enjoying this.”

Was I jealous? I had no idea. This was what jealousy was like, right? I felt it many times with my ex-boyfriends but didn’t know it could get this intense. I sighed after a moment. “I love this,” I said to Reed.

Reed chuckled. “I love this, too.”

I decided to make myself happy again by switching my gaze over to Jacob and Janice. I gasped when I saw what I saw. Janice and Jacob were kissing! “You guys!” I whisper yelled to them, a big smile on my face.

They broke the kiss and I felt a bit guilty. After all, I just ruined the moment for them. Jacob smiled and turned to Janice. “Um, that was great,” he said, slightly blushing.

Janice nodded in agreement, refusing to look him in the eye. “Yeah, that was… Really great,” she said, nervously laughing.

I smiled. “You guys are so cute!”

Jacob grinned. “You and Reed are cute, too. So is Matthew and Nicole,” he said, nodding his head towards the two, who were dancing together.

“Aww, they are cute,” I said, looking at them.
