Chapter 18 (Girl V.S. Boy)
After talking for a long time, Brandon seemed to loosen up and even would start the conversation at times. However, I was incredibly tired. I didn’t get how Brandon was not. After all, he hadn’t slept yet. “Are you tired, sweetie?” Karen asked, rubbing my back as we talked on the couch.
I nodded, giving her a small smile. “Yeah, a little bit.”
“Here, you can take a nap in the guestroom,” Karen said, pulling me up to my feet.
Brandon sent me a look that meant to say something insulting in my opinion but I ignored him and followed Karen.
I followed her into a room upstairs, where the balcony was. The room was very nice, with a brown and red theme. “This is nice,” I said.
Karen smiled at me. “Thanks honey. You know, you are a very kind and open girl. Brandon is quite the opposite. He’s always so quiet and hard to get along with.”
I shrugged, chuckling. “Yeah, it was hard at first but he really is a nice guy sometimes.”
“Am I right? Are you his friend or his girlfriend?” Karen asked.
I almost choked when I heard that. I laughed, shaking my head. “Girlfriend? No, I’m just his friend.”
Karen clicked her tongue. “Shame. You’d be really good for him. Keep him sane,” she said, smiling.
I smiled to myself as she exited the room and went back downstairs. I collapsed onto the bed and dove under the covers. Suddenly, I realized I forgot to call dad.
I brought out my phone and checked to see if I would get any signal. Yes, there was signal! I quickly dialed up my home phone. “Hello?” I heard Emily ask.
“Hey Em, is dad there?” I asked.
“He’s out with Jennifer but he did say you would call. He told me to tell you to forgot about the calling him every certain hour since he’d be busy. He trusts you,” she said.
I smiled, feeling proud. “Oh, okay.”
“Oh, and dad said if you wanted to, you could stay for one extra day since he’d be out all night,” she added in.
I raised my eyebrows. “Wow, really?”
“Uh huh, he seemed pretty sure of himself when he said that,” Emily said.
“Oh, okay, I guess I will then if I’m allowed. Are you going to be okay there by yourself?” I asked.
Emily chuckled. “Yeah, I will be okay. I’m busy searching for a part time job, anyways. I’m going back to school, Elle!”
I grinned. “I’m so proud of you, Em! I don’t want to see anymore joints or drugs, do you understand?” I asked.
“Yeah, I know. I promise. I’ll see you soon, bye,” Emily said, hanging up.
Suddenly, just as I was about to get some sleep, there was a knock at the door and someone came in and sat down at the foot of the bed. “You awake?” Brandon asked.
I sighed. “Kind of. What is it?” I asked.
“I don’t know. I don’t feel like driving back tonight. I really need to sleep. So, do you mind if we stay here overnight?” Brandon asked.
