Chapter 2

The day started off like any other day would. I had went to school, met with my friends, did my work and by the end of the day, I walked home. This would be like every day during the week and I thought it would be like this today too but I was wrong.

I was walking home, I had my headphones in and I was listening to my music. I was minding my own business and ignoring all the spirits that kept on passing me. For some reason they were all mumbling to themselves, like they were scared. I could feel something. Something really big. It felt like the ground was trembling too. I turned around and took out my headphones. I saw all of the spirits leaving the area and all I could hear was the sound of something clashing together, over and over again. It sounded like swords. I saw a spirit passing me so I stopped him.

"Excuse me?" I put my hand on his shoulder and he turned around.

"You can see me?!" He was very shocked. Then again, they all were when I started talking to them.

"Yes. Can I ask you something?"

"Sure." He said.

"Do you know what's going on?" I asked.

"Oh. You mean all of this spiritual pressure?" He asked.

"Erm, yeah. I guess that's what you call it. What is it?" He then pointed into the distance. I could make out two figures in the sky. They looked like they were battling each other.

"It's them. A soul reaper and an arrancar." His voice quivered when saying that word.

"I know what a soul reaper is but what's an arrancar?" I turned to him but he had already left.

"Huh." I started to speak to myself. This was just a little habit of mine.

"I guess it's nothing to do with me. However, that spiritual pressure, or whatever it is, is quite impressive." I started to walk away but then I heard someone speak.

"Getsuga tenshou!" The man yelled and when I turned around, I saw the soul reaper swing his sword towards me and a flash came out of it.

It was my own personal 'light before my eyes'. You know, the thing you're meant to see when you're on the verge of death. It's supposed to be the gateway between life and death. It was now time for me to die. Or so I thought. I had been saved. Saved by this man. This beautiful man with the deepest of green eyes, along with green streaks down his cheeks, making it look like he was crying, his skin was a white as snow and his hair danced across his face in the wind.

Who is this man?

After that, I passed out. I didn't think I was out for long but by the time I woke up, I didn't know where I was. I opened my eyes and all I could see was darkness so I sat up and looked around. I was in a large room, one that I had never seen before. I was lying on, what looked like, a queen sized bed, there was a small table, a large floor rug and an open window but there was one problem with it, it was more like a hole in the wall with bars through it. It was like I was in a prison. After standing up and looking around for a few minutes, I realized that there was no door.

"H-hello?" I shouted but there was no response.

"Where am I? Have I been kidnapped or something?" I kept on questioning things to myself.

"Then again, if I have been kidnapped, they wouldn't have put my in a room with such nice things like a queen sized bed... What's going on?" I was so confused. I walked over to where there was light shining on the carpet from the window. The moonlight was so beautiful. It shone as bright as the sun. I knelt down on the carpet where the light was shining and kept looking at the moon. All of a sudden, I started to cry.

"I... I'm crying... But.. Why?..." I put my hands over my face and sobbed. That's all I did. I just cried and cried. But why? All I wanted was to be comforted. I just wanted someone to tell me everything will be alright. Is that so much to ask...

"Please..." I whimpered. "Someone... Please... Help me..." My hands fell in my lap and I looked up to the moon. I was still crying and the light shone off my tears. All of a sudden, I felt arms around me.

"Why are you crying?" A male voice spoke. A man was hugging me. I tried to turn to see him but I couldn't see his face.

"I-I don't know." I responded.

"Please stop crying. I can't bare to see you cry. Your eyes are too pretty to cry such sad tears." His arms tightened around my waist.

"Can I see your face? Please.." I asked.

"No.. You'll be disgusted by what you will see.. I don't want that.. I want you to see me properly once I'm healed." He said.

"At least tell me your name." I said.

"My name?" He sounded confused.

"Yes. Your name. Everyone has a name. Even I do."

"What's your name?" He asked.

"I'm Amber Murray. Can you tell me yours now?" I asked.

"My name is Ulquiorra Schiffer."

"Why am I here, Ulquiorra?" I asked.

"I saved you from the attack of the soul reaper." He let go of my waist but I could still feel him sitting behind me.

"Can I see the face of my saviour, please?" I asked.

"Could you wait until tomorrow? I want my face to be restored before you see me." He said.

"Well, could I at least give you a propper hug instead of you hugging me from behind? I'll keep my eyes closed. I promise." I said.

"Alright then." I closed my eyes and turned around to face him. I felt his arms wrap around me so I put my arms around him too. We hugged each other tightly and I started to cry again.

"Thank you, Ulquiorra. You saved my life. I am now in your debt. Is there anything I could do for you?" I asked.

"I'll think about it but for now, I've been given orders to keep you here until you heal properly so I'll get someone to bring you some medicine for your wounds." He let go of me and my arms just fell off him. I kept my eyes shut, like I promised, and I felt his hand on my face. "Can you just promise me one thing?" He asked.

"Anything." I placed my hand over his and smiled.

"Promise me that if you need anything, just ask." I nodded and I felt his hand slip away. I heard him walk away so I turned back towards the window and opened my eyes to look at the moon.

"I'll be back in the morning. Try to get some rest for now." I heard a door open and he stepped out of it. "Good night, Amber."

"Good night, Ulquiorra. Pleasent dreams." I heard the door shut.

After Ulquiorra left, all I did was watch the moon until my medicine arrived. I was given a cream and was told to rub it into my arm until it was unable to be seen anymore. That's what I did. I rubbed the cream into my wound, it stung like a bitch but I was able to deal with it. After that, I lay back on the bed. I pulled the blanket over myself and fell asleep instantly. All I could think of was seeing Ulquiorra in the morning. I fell asleep happy but still with a lot on questions in my head.
