Chapter 22

Amber's p.o.v.

We waited until the doors shut and when they did, I looked at Lord Azien and he had the biggest smirk on his face.

"What's the condition?" I asked him.

"Well, you can pick an escort who will go with you to the world of the living. You'll need some gigais when you get there. I'll tell your escort where to go to find them. From there, you can do what you want. However, the condition is this. When you return, you will agree to marry me." He said with an evil grin on his face.

"W-what?!" I was shocked by what he just said. "W-why would you want to marry me?!"

"I have my reasons." He said as he stood up and walked towards me. "So, do we have a deal?" He asked as he started to gently stroke my cheek.

I can't just marry him... I don't even love him... I love Ulquiorra... But I want to see my family and friends and I promised Shunsui that I'd meet with him too...

"I... I..." I didn't know what to say.

"I what?" He smirked.

"I'm sorry, Lord Aizen. I can't marry someone who I don't love. In my eyes, it doesn't work that way. If you were to marry someone, you'd marry them out of love." I knew that doing this, I wouldn't be able to see my family and friends.

"Hmm. Interesting." I looked up at him with tears in my eyes as he patted me on the head. "You want to see your family and friends so badly and yet you'd give up all of that to be with your lover. I'm impressed." He smiled at me and then turned around to sit back in his throne. "For your courage, I will allow you to see your family and friends. Who will you be taking with you?" He asked.

"U-Ulquiorra..." I mumbled.

"I thought so." He said as he sat down in his throne. "In that case, I shall speak to him later about it. For now, you'll need to get some rest. You'll be leaving in the morning. When you wake up, go to the training room. You'll meet Ulquiorra there and he'll tell you the rest. Go to your room and then send Ulquiorra to me. I need to speak to him. Good night, Amber." He smiled at me again.

"Thank you, my Lord." I bowed and then flashed over to the doors. The slowly opened, I then ran out and went to my room. When I got there, Ulquiorra was waiting outside for me.

"How did it go?" He asked.

"I'll tell you in a minute. Come inside." I gestured him to go into my room. He walked over to the couch and I closed the door. "He's allowed me to see my family and friends." I smiled at him.

"That's great." He smiled back as I sat down next to him.

"And you're allowed to be my escort."

"That's also great!" He bloomed with happiness. Well, as much as he could at least.

"There was just one problem though.." I knew I had to tell him eventually.

"What happened?" He asked.

"He said that he would only allow me to go if I agreed to marry him once we got back..." I said drearily.

"Oh.. And what did you say?" Ulquiorra stood up. He really wasn't happy.

"I said no." I lifted up my head to look at him and when he turned around, he seemed confused.

"You... said no... But how are you still allowed to go then?" He asked.

"I told him that I couldn't marry him because I didn't love him. I also told him that I didn't see marriage that way. I believe that if two people get married, it's because they love each other." I stood up and held Ulquiorra's hands. "He then said that he was impressed with my answer and how courageous I was to speak the truth, so he's allowing me to go because of how honest I was."

"I'm surprised..." Ulquiorra bowed his head.

"About what?" I asked.

"I'm surprised that he asked you to marry him while knowing that you didn't love him... And yet I'm glad." He said while looking up at me.

"Glad?" I was confused.

"Yes. I'm glad that I can go with you, not just as your escort but as your boyfriend.." He cupped his hands around my face and smiled.

"I'm glad too." I smiled back at him and then we kissed. "Oh. I forgot. Lord Aizen wants to see you so he can speak to you about tomorrow." I then hugged him. "I guess I'll see you in the morning." He hugged me back before leaving.

"Good night, Amber." He turned and smiled at me.

"Good night." I said in response. After the door closed, I went straight to bed. I was looking forward to tomorrow so I just wanted the night to finish quickly.

Ulquiorra's p.o.v.

I was on my way to the throne room to see Lord Aizen when Starrk walked towards me.

"Ulquiorra. What happened to Amber coming back to the clinic?" He asked me.

"We had something else that was more important than that." I said calmly.

"Huh. I see. Well, bring her by in the morning instead."

"I can't. We're going to the world of the living in the morning." I said.

"Why?" He asked.

"A treat for Amber." I said while looking away from him.

"Does Lord Aizen know about this?" He asked.

"Of course he does. He's the one who said she could go." I snapped at him.

"Alright then. I've got to get going. Bye Ulquiorra. Enjoy your trip." He then kept on walking. As did I. I kept on walking until I came to the throne room. The doors were already open so I walked in.

"You wished to see me, Lord Aizen." I said to him.

"Yes. I want to talk to you about tomorrow. I assume Amber has already told you what we spoke of."

"She told me everything." I stated.

"Good. So you know of my marriage proposal." Luckily my hands were in my pockets so he couldn't see me clenching my fists.

"Yes." I said calmly.

"I can tell your not happy and I understand why." He smirked.

"You wanted to talk about tomorrow?" I quickly changed the subject so I couldn't get mad at him more.

"Ah yes. In the morning, you will meet Amber in the training room so you can go to the world of the living. I've sent a message to someone I know that can provide you with gigais. He said he'll have them ready for you by the time you get there. Here's the map to where you need to go to find him." He then handed me a map. "Once you have your gigais, you may do as you please. You'll be there for twenty four hours so I want you back here at 12am on the Saturday morning. If you're not back, I'll have Grimmjow and Starrk looking for you." He then sat back down in his throne. "That's all. You may go." I bowed and walked out of the room. I was so angry by the time I got back to my room that I didn't even think about trying to get any sleep.
