Chapter 44

I was woken up by a loud knock on my door. I looked up and saw myself lying on Ulquiorra's chest. He seemed so peaceful so I let him rest more as the knocks on the door continued. I quickly flashed towards the door and opened it before the person could knock again.

"Shhh." I said as I rubbed my eyes.

"So you're finally awake." I looked up to see Grimmjow looking down at me.

"Yeah, now be quiet. Ulquiorra is still asleep." I yawned.

"What?!" He said, shockingly.

"Yeah yeah." I said, sarcastically. "I know he doesn't usually sleep but whatever. Now, what do you want." I sighed.

"Oh! Right. Lord Aizen wants to see you, ASAP." He sighed as he started to rub the back of his head.

"Really? Huh. I wonder what for. I'll be there in a minute." I said as I closed the door and turned around to see Ulquiorra still lying in the exact same place as he was before. I walked over to my desk and saw some paper and a pen. I wrote a note for Ulquiorra saying:

I've been told that Lord Aizen wants to see me so I'll be back as soon as I can - Amber

I put the note next to him and kissed him on the forehead. I then walked back over to the door and slowly closed it before I left. I ran down the corridor and flashed towards the throne room. The doors were already open and I saw Lord Aizen sitting at his throne.

"Come in, Amber." I heard him speak.

"Yes, my lord." I flashed into the room and bowed. "You wanted me, my lord." I said as I stood up straight.

"Yes. I wanted you to come here so I could give you your espada tattoo number. Where would you like it to be on you?" He asked.

"A tattoo?" I said, startled.

"Yes. Every espada has a tattoo to show their ranking. I would just like to know where you would like yours to be. Your stomach, your arm, or perhaps you'd even like it..." He said as he stood up, walked closer to me and put his hand over the centre of my chest. "over your chest?"

"How about my right shoulder?" I asked.

"Hmm. Interesting choice." He moved his hand away from me and it fell by his side. "Where abouts would you like it to be?" He asked.

"Could I have it on the front of my shoulder, please?" I asked.

"Of course. Just move your jacket back so I can see where you want it." He sighed. I then moved my jacket back from my right shoulder.

"Here will do nicely." I said, pointing to the place where I wanted it.

"Indeed." Lord Aizen stood up and put his hand over my shoulder. After a few seconds, he sighed and moved his hand away from me. "There we go. You're now a true espada." He smiled as I looked at my shoulder to see the number 3 tattooed onto me.

"Huh? I'm pretty sure you said I was going to be ranked 5, right?" I was confused.

"Yes but things have changed. Ever since the last number 3, Tia Harribel, was defeated, I have been considering on putting you at her rank instead. Especially after how strong you really are." He smirked.

"I see. Well, thank you, Lord Aizen. It's a pleasure to be your new espada." I bowed.

"Yes. You may leave now." He sighed.

"Of course, my lord." I then flashed out of the room and started to walk down the corridor.

"So what happened?" I looked up to see Grimmjow walking towards me.
