As I arrive at detention, I finally make up my mind. I will go with him and see what he wants to talk about. I give my slip to the teacher. I'm sitting there for about 10 min when the teacher leaves. I then see Jace come into the room.
"What are you doing here?" I ask with confusion.
"The teacher today never comes back after he leaves. So, come on, we're leaving." As he grabs my hand.
As we walk through the parking lot what do I see? Yup, of course, he has a motorcycle. Of course, I've always wanted to ride one.
"You aren't scared, are you?" He looks back at me with a smile.
"No, I am not. I've always wanted to ride one. So, it all works out." I give him a big smile.
As we get onto his bike and gives me a helmet and takes out one for himself.
"Put your hands around my waist. Just don't get any ideas though." I look at him with a small smirk.
"Only in your dreams lover boy." I hear him laugh. With that I put my hands around his waist and we take off.
"Where are, we going?" I yell over the sound of the bike.
"It's a surprise. Just enjoy the ride, love." Oh, I do alright. It was so exhilarating!
When we stop, I look to see we're at Kelly's Diner. It looked nice. Like one of those old '70s diners. We walk in to see a cute guy, probably a little older than me standing at the counter. His name is Jeremy.
"How many?" he asks.
"2, booth please." I heard Jace ask.
We get to our seats and he takes our drink orders.
"What can I get you sir?" he looks at Jace.
"Root beer please." He says, not looking up.
"And for the lovely lady over here?" he says with a flirtatious smile.
I give a smile back and out of the corner of my eye I see, what seems to be a little bit of anger in Jace's eyes. I don't know what that's about.
"Sweet tea please." While I give Jeremy a simple smile.
"Right away." With that, he leaves to go get our drinks.
"So, how was your day?" He asks.
I start laughing! "How was my day? That's a way to start of a conversation."
"What else am I supposed to do? Get straight to the point? Now, that's no way to start a conversation. So, I thought, how was your day was a little bit better. Don't you think?" he looks at me amusement.
"My day was actually pretty okay. I don't have to ask about yours because, by the looks of it, it started off pretty well." I smirk at him.
"It did start out good. But it's better now that I'm here with you." He gives me a big smile.
"Awe, lover boy, don't you just know how to charm a girl. Anyway, what did you want to talk about?" I give him a pointed look.
As soon as he opened his mouth our drinks arrived.
"Here are your drinks. What can I get you all to eat?" As he pulls out his pen and paper.
"I will take a cheeseburger, plain, with onion rings and some ranch sauce." I give him my menu and he looks a Jace.
"I will take the same thing." With that the waiter walks off to put in our orders.
"I wanted to ask you about last night. What was all that? I mean did you mean any of it?" he just looks at me.
I take a few minutes to answer. "After I got home, my aunt yelled at me for what happened, then to celebrate my first day we had dinner, dessert, and decided to smoke some peyote. I guess since I haven't had it in a while, I had just a little too much. There is more to the story, but I just can't talk about it right now. I'm not ready to let anyone in." I give him a sad smile.
"I wasn't asking because I wanted a relationship. I just wanted to get to know you better. You're unlike any girl I've ever met. I mean, you punched Amber on your first day there. I find you intriguing." Is all he says.
I don't know how to take that. I wish I was ready to let someone, anyone in. I thought I said that to myself when I hear.
"You will eventually, and just remember, you may not know me well. But I can keep secrets, and I will always be here for you to talk to about anything."
"Thank you." I just keep telling myself, remember what your mom told you. "You may not know it yet, but one day you will see something in that boy." I sigh.
It may have been a vision, but maybe she was right. Maybe I could confide in him. Not now and not here, but maybe sometime soon.
"Oh! Our food's here!" with that, I start chowing down.
Jace P.O.V
As we're sitting there eating, I just study her. On the outside, I can tell she keeps up some hard walls. On the inside, she is as vulnerable as I am. It's not fair that this girl, this beautiful girl, must go through something like this and has no one to talk to. As we eat, I can't help but keep thinking about how much I just wish I could give her a hug and tell her everything will get better eventually. Hell, I'm still trying to convince myself that everything will get better.
"Are you ready?" I hear. I look up to see she is done eating. So am I.
"Yea, let me pay and we'll go." I start to get out my wallet.
"I can't let you pay! Let me pay." She says. After about 5 minutes of arguing, I finally win out and pay.
The drive back is silent. Not an awkward silence though. It was nice. We finally arrive at her house. I, being the gentleman I am, walk her to the door.
"I had a good time." I tell her.
"So, did I, surprisingly, I thought you were going to pester me for more information and you didn't. Which I really appreciate." She looks at me with a look I can't decipher.
"Your welcome love. I won't try to get anything from you that you don't want me to know. I just hope one day; you will trust me enough to let me in. Like I said, I've only known you a couple days, but I can't help myself." I look straight at her, then to her lips.
"Can't help what?" She asks.
Before she can say anything else, I put my hand on the side of her cheek. "You are so beautiful." I then give her a kiss.
Just a small kiss on the lips. Nothing major. I see a look of shock on her face. Even I can't believe I did it. It felt right though, and I would do it again if I could. I don't want to scare her off.
"I will see you tomorrow love. Have a good night." I say and walk back to my bike.
"You too!" I hear her say, as I watch her walk into her house and I head back to mine, which is hell. As I park my bike, I see that my dad is home. Fuck. I put my bike up and go to the door. With a deep breath, I open the door, and first thing I see is my brother and mom crying. My little sister in the corner hiding. I look up to see my dad, beer in his hand. He looks at me.
"Oh look. The hero is back. Just in time to see your mom suffer some more." With that, he starts yelling at my mom.
"Natalie, I told you to stop protecting him! You bitch!"
Hell hello, my lovely Peaches!
I'm happy I was able to get an update in!
What you think about that cliffhanger?
I can't wait for the next chapter.
Tell me what you think!
Love you all!
