"I'm looking for the family of Haseya Taylors?" she says, looking around.

"That's us." Says her uncle, jumping up.

"Well I have good news and bad news. Which would you like first?" she asks.

"We would like the...bad news first." He says, worry in his eyes.

The doctor starts off. "The bad news is that she is in a coma. That was from getting her head hit pretty hard."

"What's the good news?" I ask right after.

"The good news is, that she wasn't severely hurt anywhere else. A couple broken ribs and some bruises, no major organs. She is stable, but we're not sure when she will wake up.

"When can we go see her?" I ask the doctor.

"I will have a nurse come in and tell you when you can. I wish you all the best of luck." She says, and walks off.

I can't help it, I start crying again. She's in a coma, a fucking coma. I get so mad at myself! I just have to walk off.

"I'm sorry guys." I say as I walk out of there.

I hear Andrew, "I'll go talk to him."

I see Andrew following me outside.

"It's all my fault. All of this, if only I told someone, we wouldn't be here right now!" I stare down at the ground.

"Jace, like her uncle said, none of this is your fault. You couldn't have known anything about this. None of us knows anything about peyote except her aunt. That was until you looked it up. Don't go blaming yourself on something that you couldn't control." He sits next to me, rubbing my shoulder.

"I can't help it though." I say.

Andrew and I stay out there while he talks to me, trying to calm me down.

Ashlyn P.O.V.

I can't believe it. My best friend is in a coma. I start crying, what will happen if she doesn't wake up? What am I going to do? I have to go call James and let him know. Him and Haseya aren't as close, but he will still want to know, even though he was starting to get drunk at the party. I dial him up.

"Yooo, Ashlynnnnn, what's up?" He asks me, his words slurring.

"Haseya is in a coma." I tell him. Starting to cry again.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, what happened?" I can tell he is sobering up real quick.

I go into the whole story, from the beginning until just a few minutes ago. He was silent the whole time.

"I'll be there as soon as I can." He hangs up.

I go back inside to see a young guy talking to Haseya's aunt and uncle. He looks to be about 20 or so.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to interrupt but one of our other friends is heading up here. If that's ok?" I ask them, just to make sure.

"That's perfectly fine sweetie. Oh, by the way, this is my son Evan." She points to him.

"Hey, I'm Haseya's cousin. And you are?" He asks me, holding his hand out.

"I'm Ashlyn, Haseya's best friend." I tell him, shaking his hand.

"I'm glad she has someone. Do you know what is going on with my sister? She is unusually quiet. She's never like that." He asks me.

"No, I'm not sure. She hasn't said anything since we got here. It's like she's been in her own little world." I tell him.
