She Rises

Chapter 27

As I wake up, I feel it's going to be a good day. I'm praying that I don't go off like I did yesterday. So, I go and do my daily routine, which includes a shower, hair, makeup, getting dressed and now, smoking a little. Not much, just a little to take my mind off a few things. Like, missing my mom. When I smoke, I may not see her sometimes, but there are times, where I feel like I can hear her. I know it may sound crazy, but it's true. After I'm ready, I head downstairs to eat some breakfast.

"Hi, auntie!" I tell my aunt, who is making breakfast.

"Well, hello sweetie. How are you feeling today? You seem pretty happy." She gives me a big smile.

What can I say? My mood is great now. I have an amazing boyfriend, amazing family, and amazing friends! My life is good right now! Plus, my aunt is making pancakes and bacon. Who can't be happy with that?

"Auntie, that smells amazing!" I tell her.

"Well, I'm glad, because I have plenty of it! James, Riley! Get your butts down here. It's breakfast time!" My aunt yells upstairs.

I just love her. She can always put a smile on my face. I look up to see my uncle and cousin coming down the stairs. My uncle going up to my aunt, giving her a sweet smile and kiss. You can just tell they love each other. I hope I have that one day.

"Thanks for breakfast Shadi. It smells wonderful!" I hear my uncle say.

"Well thank you James. I try my best!" she gives him a big smile.

"Smells good mom!" Riley comes down.

Mom, oh how I wish mine was still here. Sometimes, I get a jealous feeling. Don't get me wrong, I love my aunt. She is one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I just wish I had my mom to talk to, in person. Not my vision mom, while I'm on one of my trips.

"Haseya?" I hear my uncle call my name.

"Yea?" I look up to my uncle.

"You've been staring out for a few moments. Just wanting to make sure you're ok. You know I love you like my own." He gives me a big smile.

I look around, and see my aunt and my cousin also giving me big grins. Oh, how I love them so much. My eyes start to water.

"I love you guys too!" I say, while I start crying. Not big sob cries, just the silent happy ones.

"Haseya, don't cry baby." My aunt comes over and hugs me.

"I'm ok. I promise." I say as I finish my breakfast.

"Riley, you ready to go?" I ask her.

"Yea, lets head out." She gets up and grabs her backpack.

"Bye Auntie, by Uncle." "Bye mom, by dad." Me and Riley say at the same time. Then we start laughing.

During the car ride, we chat about little things. Finally, we pull in and I see my friends and Jace waiting on me. I look over and see Riley's waiting on her.

"You need a ride after school?" She asks me.

"I'll probably catch a ride with Jace. But, I'll let you know." I tell her.

With that we head our separate ways. I see my friends at my locker, just chit chatting.

"Hey!" I hear Ashlyn.

"Hey babe!" Jace pulls me into a hug and gives me a kiss.

"Hello Ha." James says.

"Ha?" I start laughing.
