She Rises

Chapter 3

     As I walk into the gymnasium, I see the bitch. I say bitch because she hasn't even earned enough of my respect for me to even say her name.

"Oh look, there's that Indian bitch."

I look over and she stands there, with a smirk on her face, just waiting for me to say something. Well, I just can't let that slide.

"Oh hell no, you didn't just call me an Indian bitch!"

As I start walking towards her, I hear Ashlyn running towards me, yelling "Haseya, I wouldn't do that!"

I don't care, this is the second time she has insulted me. I'm not a patient person. I walk up to her.

"What are you going to do, hit me?" she sneers. "Oh, no, I wouldn't do that."

She just smiled. "I figured, you just don't have the guts for that."

With that I hauled off and punched her.

"I'm sorry, but don't challenge me. Because you won't win!" I just looked at her, rage in my eyes.

"I don't know you that well, but the way your dressed, I can just tell you're a slut." I just smiled and walked away.

"Why you little-" she starts.

"What are you going to do? Call me a bitch? If so, you need to find something different to call me, because honestly, it's getting old honey. I'm not one of those little scared girls that you think you can just pick on and bully."

I start to turn back around and when I hear what she says I just laugh.

"This isn't over!" she spat, wiping blood from her lip.

At that moment, the gym teacher comes in and doesn't even try to ask questions. She just tells me to go to the principal's office and tells someone to take Amber to the nurse's office.

I get into the office and sit down. The first thing I see is disappointment on the principal's face.

"It's your first day of school in a regular high school and you're already fighting Miss Taylors."

"In my defense, she insulted me twice." I just sit there, waiting for his response.

"Either way, I still have to give you punishment. I will give you 3 days' detention since it's your first time. I should give you more seeing as you busted Amber's lip, but I will go easy on you this time. I must call your aunt though.

"Fair enough, thanks for taking it easy on me. I don't have much patience for people who insult me. I'll try my best to keep it under control." He looks at me, judging if I'm telling the truth or not. Looking pleased he looks back down at his papers and dismisses me.

As I walk down the hall I see Riley coming up to me.

"What the hell happened!?" "Umm, I kind of punched Amber." I state bluntly.

"Haseya, I love you! She needed it, but why did you do it? I told you, you need to try and keep your temper down."

"Riley, she insulted me and my heritage, TWICE! I couldn't take it anymore, I had to do something. I may not be in my tribe anymore, but that doesn't mean I still don't have respect for them. I will always have a part of that and I will not let anyone disrespect that, ever." She looks at me, adoration in her eyes.

"For everything you have gone through, I respect that and you. Let's go to lunch so can meet up with Ashlyn. I know she is just waiting for you and the rest of the story."

"Let's go, I'm hungry." As my stomach starts to growl.

"Haseya, what the hell happened!?" She comes up to me and drags me to the table after I grab my pizza. Yummy, pizza.

"Well, hello pretty lady, how do you do?" A cute blonde says to me. I look over and see him smiling.

"Oh, Haseya, this is James, James, Haseya," Ashlyn said.

"I'm doing ok. It's a little weird adjusting, and it's my first day and I have detention." I smile sheepishly. What? I'm proud of myself for what I did. I'm not going to let anyone bring me down.

"You have detention!?" Ashlyn exclaimed.

"Wait up, you got detention? How did that happen?" James asks. So, I go through and tell the story all over again. From the beginning starting in Science, including Jace in that part. After I tell the story he looks at me like I grew two heads.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing." he says.

That was a little awkward. Any way I look at Ashlyn and ask, "So tell me the deal with all these people around here."

"Well, you already know Amber, obviously. She is what you would consider the 'Queen Bee', then you have her little group that consists of Macy, Julie, and Stephanie. Stephanie is the nicer one of them all. I don't even know why she is with Amber honestly. But any way, then you have the 'Bad Boy' Jace, which you also know him," she laughs. "For starters, he is gorgeous for a white boy ha-ha. Along with him you have Andrew, Sam, Ryder, and Carlos. They are all cute if you ask me. Any way then you of course have the nerds and jocks and all that jazz. You may come across them later. So, I won't go into them right now. As your cousin said though, Jace is trouble. Just be careful there." I just laughed at that.

"I don't plan on jumping on that train at all."

As soon as I say that I hear a bunch of sighs and giggles. I look over and guess who's coming into the cafeteria? Yup you guessed it, Jace. As soon as he spots me, he starts coming my way, until he is stopped. Guess who stopped him? If you guessed Amber, then your right. 'Jacey' she mews. Ugh really? What is she, a five-year-old?

"Where are you going?" Amber whined.

He starts to shove her away and looks right at me and said, "I was on my way to see Haseya, so if you could just move out of the way."

"Ugh, not her. She is a freak and she's not even pretty." My blood was boiling at this. Does she not know any other words than freak and bitch? I mean seriously.

Before he could respond I jump up and go up to her. While watching Jace walk away, I look straight at her.

"Like I told you before I have a name. Obviously, your pea sized brained can't comprehend it though. Also, you need to find a new name for me instead of bitch and freak. I've been here a day and it's already getting old." She looks at me with anger.

"Before you say another word, I punched you once and gave you that busted lip, which actually makes you look better." I hear a bunch of laughs. "I am not afraid to punch your ass again." I challenge her.

She glares at me and says "Just stay away from Jace, he is mine." I look behind her and look at her with a little sympathy, she sees me and looks behind her.

"Evidently he isn't yours." With that, I watch Jace walk away with a pretty brunette out of the cafeteria. The look on her face is priceless, as she walks away with a pout.

I start to walk back to my seat and, of course, everyone is staring at me.

"Stop fucking staring!" I then sit back down in my seat. The rest of the day goes by, and eventually its after school. I meet up with Riley.

"Well, I have to go to detention. So, tell Aunt Shadi I will be home late." She looks at me with an apologetic look on her face.

"Call me when you're ready to come home and I will come and get you." I watch her walk away and call after her, "I love you!"

I hear a faint "I love you too."

Next stop, Detention.
