"Yahana dear, are you sure you're ready? You've only been here a year."
"Aunt Shadi, Yahana is gone along with that life."
"Haseya you know I love you, but it will always be a part of you."
"I know." I said. "I have to go. Riley is waiting."
I saw my cousin by the door, tapping her foot, arms crossed, impatient over the bickering between my aunt and me.
"Finally ready?" Riley sighed. With that, we hopped into her 2007 red Jeep. Heading out I faintly hear my aunt say, "This talk isn't over!"
I know, you're probably wondering and asking yourself, what the hell is going on? Until I'm fully ready to give you my whole story, I will give you a small bit.
*Flashback*
"Father, I can't stay here any longer. Mom is gone, and you have completely changed."
"You fully know the consequences of leaving, and you're going to do it anyway? You have your whole life here, and you are going to throw it all away, for a feeling you have?" he yelled. "That's crazy talk. You are the daughter of a Navajo chief, and I will not allow this! You will be a disgrace to this family. I will look a fool because of you, and the fact that I couldn't keep you in line!" he barked.
"Is that all you care about? Your reputation and how it will make YOU look? What is supposed to come first, is being a father to your child. I know you're a chief, but you're also my father and should support me. Yet, the fact that you don't, doesn't change my decision!" I cried.
"Well," my father states, "You better hope that you never show your face around here. Though you're my daughter, and I love you, but-"
"Stop right there! If you truly loved me, you would support me. So, don't give me that 'you're my daughter, I love you, but I will still give you the consequences.' That is not a true father."
"I do love you, though! That's just how it goes, and I must follow the ways of my people. I can't change that Yahana," he said.
"I just wish you would see it from my view. I know mom would have." I said.
He just looked at me, with pain in his eyes at the mention of my mother. I went and got all my stuff with tears in my eyes at what just happened. After everything was said and done, I set off to find my aunt.
*End of flashback*
"Hello?" Riley said, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Sorry, what did you say?"
"I said, Haseya, we're here."
So here I am, from a small Navajo tribe in Arizona, to El Segundo California, about to attend my senior year at El Segundo High.
"Well, Riley," I look at her. "Let the fun begin."
"You said it cuz." I heard her say, as I got out of the passenger seat of the jeep.
Hey Peaches!
Like I said in my first authors note, this is my first book so give me a little leeway on it! I was never one on writing but thought I would give it a chance just for the fun of it! Thanks, guys! I love you all!
