For Narumi, going on missions was one of the things she did best. She was not good at other stuff, rather killing and such things was her talent.
Well,it's more like a curse. Not a talent.
And right now,she was trying to ignore the fact that she was in great pain. Her stomach hurt, and she knew it was the baby, and that it was cramps. But she was usually very good at ignoring pain.
"Narumi, you need to rest!" Sakura ordered. But Narumi shook her head, despite being completely exhausted.
"I can..." She fell down to her knees, and before she dropped she felt strong arms around her, pulling her up,carrying her.
She knew the scent of Sasuke once she smelled it,but she barely believed it was him carrying her. Narumi had opened her weak eyes just to see Sasuke look down at her with a worried look.
"I've got you." Sasuke said, looking down at her. "Don't worry,I've got you..." Narumi was too weak and too exhausted to respond to him,but she felt his look on her stomach.
And for once it wasn't of disgust.
But more likely a worried look.
Narumi fell asleep in his arms with a smile, knowing that Sasuke finally felt something after so many days of this mission.
---
Narumi was awake, seeing Sasuke's face illuminated by the sun,and looking around she saw they were by a beautiful lake.
"You're awake.." Sasuke said,as if he was worried he'd lose her forever. He hugged her tightly in his lap,and she hugged him back with shock.
What had happened? Why had she so suddenly just passed out?
"Sasuke.. What happened?"
He shook his head, smiling as he laid her hair behind her ears. "Sakura said you'd walked too much.. Your body needed rest."
"How long have I been out?"
"A day." Sasuke said casually, playing with her hair. She widened her eyes. "Don't worry! For a pregnant woman,it's normal to be stay put this long. You needed the rest, and so did the baby."
Narumi looked even more shocked.
"Baby?" she stated. "Since when did you change the term monster into baby?"
"I..." Sasuke exhaled. "When I was little,I felt like my father didn't appreciate me. I felt like he just didn't think I was good enough. I wouldn't want my child to grow up knowing that the father does in fact despise them."
Narumi smiled. Her heart warmed.
"I..I can't hate my own flesh and blood. No matter how much I tell myself that I hate the baby, there's always a whisper in my voice." Sasuke looked at the lake and shook his head with a smile.
"And I see how you look at your stomach every now and then. How you're smiling, and how you're just...filled with happiness, and light. This baby makes you happy, doesn't it?" Narumi nodded, touching her belly.
Her eyes were watering with tears of happiness as she sat up. "Before.. I didn't think life could get any better.. But this baby is a blessing,Sasuke. This baby is what makes me smile in the morning, and what makes me long for the next day. It's my only hope for a normal and happy restored life.." Narumi said, feeling a tear rolling down her cheek.
Before she knew it,she was sobbing. "I want this baby to..To grow up with love, and to have a safe home! I want my baby to have everything he needs! I..I want my baby to be happy, and away from the trouble that the shinobi world gives him!"
"We can't." Sasuke said immediately, and as much as she wanted to deny it.. She knew she couldn't.
She knew that her baby wasn't going to live away from everything that the shinobi world was here to offer, and as strong as her baby was..
Narumi felt a strange presence right behind her,and she got up with snake-alike eyes.
"What is it,Narumi?" Sasuke looked around just as Narumi touched her belly with a protective instinct.
"Someone's here." Sasuke looked around and got up to his feet, both of them looking around the lake.
"We should go."
"It's been following us." But she didn't know how she knew that.. She just knew! "It won't attack but it's following us.." She whispered, not really knowing how she knew this.
Sasuke got in front of her,his hand protectively hiding her belly. She knew that he felt it,too. He looked at her,his sharingan activated, his hair hiding his rinnegan.
"We need to move." Sasuke said to her, taking a hold of her hand as they both started running away from whatever it was chasing them.
But Narumi was still overwhelmed about the fact that he loved this baby.
Sakura's POV;
Naruto and Sakura walked along the path of the woods, searching for some food for the others. Naruto also wanted to talk to Sakura, but she didn't know about what.
All she knew was that Naruto looked very confused.
"So what is it?"
"I think that... Something is following me. I feel like there's something wanting to hurt me." Sakura narrowed her eyes.
"I feel like..Narumi is in danger,I think both I and Narumi are in danger."
"Why do you think that?" Sakura asked, her eyes still narrowed as she touched a branch.
"I just feel it..It might be weird, but with my sharingan I can actually feel what Narumi's baby feels. And Narumi can feel it too considering she has a sharingan. And Sasuke.. I can tell he's already tracking this thing. I can tell Sasuke has something in the back of his head."
"Naruto,are you positive?" He nodded.
Within just a few months Narumi will be delivering, and none of them could afford to have her in danger..
So why was he telling her this?
"Why are you telling me this?" she asked.
"Because Izuka is a Namikaze and..well,despite me being very close to him,he doesn't feel like he feels for you. And I need his help to secure Narumi's baby if anything happens to us. So,I want you and Izuka to take care of the baby if we don't make it."
"Naruto..Just what did you feel?"
"Nothing you need to know now,Sakura. Just promise me?"
"Naruto,I would do anything. You know that."
Naruto nodded his head, with a sad smile. Then he walked away from Sakura.
And she didn't follow him, cause she knew he had better things to do.
