~Sammy, You Can Let Go Now~

His words sting, like knives in your heart

You admit to him that you're falling apart

Why do you let him do this?

Waiting for some sort of possible bliss?

Waiting for a chance at a happy ending?

Meanwhile you just have to keep pretending

Pretending to be happy, and be okay

While he knows you're struggling yet again today

Push, pull, tug, shove

This is what you want? You call this love?

Tough love, you say to yourself in tears

This is what you want? This is with whom you want to spend your years?

Sammy, you can let go now

You don't need this, let me teach you how

Feel the pain, realize this brings him joy

He doesn't treasure your heart, to him, it's just a toy

Sammy, Sweetie, you can let go

Don't shake your head, don't keep saying "No"

Honestly, what are you fighting for anymore

You're stronger than this, just walk out the damn door

You fought long and hard to keep this up

But let's face it, the path has gotten way too rough

Sammy, you're hanging yourself and Abi's the rope

Yet still, you refuse to give up hope

But be as it may and try as you might

There's no telling if Abi is going to make this right

You can't keep fighting if he doesn't want you

There's only one thing that you can do

Sam, you gave him the choice, what if he walks?

Maybe he's tired of these serious talks

What if he doesn't want to fight for you

Then tell me, what will you do?

Continue fighting for nothing at all?

Stumbling, tripping, taking endless falls

All for what? Because you love this guy

Is that the answer for why you let yourself cry?

Right now, you're glass waiting to be shattered

All because he makes you feel like you don't matter

Be ready, Sammy, he's going to let go

You'll kick and scream and tell him "No."

You'll fight and fight until he doesn't reply

Then every night, you'll lay in bed and cry

Tell yourself you should've plead the fifth

From this fall, there'll be no lift

So get ready, get set, his answer is coming soon

Will you be happy with his answer? Or are you doomed?

Minute by minute, time ticks by

What's taking so long? What does he have to say? Are you going to cry?

Minutes turn into an hour

Your mood is growing increasingly sour

Your heart is pounding in your ears

You're even on the verge of tears

Last time he thought this hard, he chose another girl

You think this answer is going to mess up your world

"I'm thinking," he says, "It's harder than it seems"

You're thinking about what this means

What's so hard? Stay or walk out.

Meanwhile you're trying not to scream and shout
