Poem 11

Once upon a time

We had a love like a fairy tale rhyme

But then you broke my heart

Grabbed it and tore it all apart

Now here you are again

Asking "Can we just be friends?"

I said yes because I miss you

You say yeah I feel it too

Then, after 7 months, you admit you made a mistake

Mine was a heart you wish you didn't break

You regret ever leaving me

Saying this is something you failed to see

I was yours and you were mine

Till the day you left it all behind

7 months go by but we don't speak

But you got your heart broken just this week

Now here comes everything I wish you'd have chosen to say

Back on that sad fateful day...

I thought about that question all day and through the night

And deep down in my heart, I know this choice is right

I have 2 paths, they're right in front of me

But down each path, it's too hard to see

I don't know where they'll go

But there's one thing I do know

I have to make a choice, I have to follow my heart

Go back to a guy from the past, or the one who's loved me from the start

With one, I have strong history

A path filled with insecurities and mystery

But look over there, the path to the right

The boy who holds me all through the night

The one who doesn't leave because I'm flawed

The Four to my Tris, he's there through it all

The choice is all too clear

I don't love you, my ex dear

I'll go with the boy with the love so true

The one to whom it pains me to say "I'm breaking up with you"

I wish we were together, but your words came 7 months too late

Now you'll have to deal with the fate

I appreciate the words you said

But our relationship has for a while been dead
