Wow.
That girl Maggie is something. Like...like fire. Her slight southern accent. And those eyes. They're green. Like the ones I dreamt up. How weird is that? It's all I can think about as I walk the school hallways. I don't even care that people keep bumping into me. I don't mind being invisible to them today, because I wasn't invisible when Maggie gave me back my baseball cap. I acted like a total loser when she talked to me, but still. She saw me. Me.
It's lunchtime and I have no idea where to go. I decide to sit under this big oak tree I found out in the school field. I start eating my sandwich and I begin to think about Michigan. I had a lot of friends at my old school. I miss them. I also miss my baseball team. At the same time I feel like I'll be ok here. After all, there is no Maggie Greene in Michigan. How bad can this place be if someone like her is here?
