"Ah, thanksgiving, the only time a year when it's okay to celebrate Europeans colonizing Native american land and forcing them to feed them. Thanks to my dad, I realize that this holiday isn't one to be celebrated for it's origin, but to be thankful. And this thanksgiving, I'm thankful for my best friend and sister Maya, my family, friends and my boyfriend." I let out a breath of relief as I finished my paper, hurrying back to my couch.
I'd stayed up all night writing my essay for English, and it had to be perfect. Next week is the last week we have before grades for marking period were final.
After this year I'd be going to college, not a community college, but NYU. A B minus in English wouldn't cut it.

"It was perfect!" Maya cheered, her smile spreading from ear to ear. "I love that I come before your family on that list." She smirked.

"Oh, did I do that? I might have to rewrite it." I joked, laying my head on her shoulder.

"I don't know why you're so stressed out, Riles. Your grades are literally perfect. Any college would be stupid for not accepting you!"

"She's right." Farkle entered the door and stripped off his uniform shirt to reveal a 4 pack. Wow, he's ripped.

I forced myself to take my eyes off of his body long enough to smile at his compliment. "Thanks you guys."

"So, Farkle." Maya narrowed her blue eyes at him. You'd think that after almost a year she'd get used to having him around, but the two still remained sworn enemies- jokingly, of course. "What do you plan to do?"

"What do you mean, Maya?" Farkle rolled his eyes.

"With your life."

"I'm gonna start my own business, you know that."

"Yeah Maya, you know that!" I mocked in a deep voice. Me and Maya burst into laughter, causing Farkle to blush.

"Yeah, ha ha ha, Laugh all you want to. You won't be laughing when I take my dad's spot as the most successful man in new York."

I immediately stopped laughing. How could I have forgotten about his dad? Stupid Stewart, why would you abandon a genius? "I'm sorry Farkle. I'm rooting for you." I wrapped my arms around his torso.

"Sorry Finks, I forgot about the whole "getting kicked out" thing." Maya winced, shrugging on her winter coat. "I have to run, call you later Riles, see ya Farkle."

After Maya left, we sat down on the couch. "You know, it hurts sometimes." Farkle muttered.

"What hurts, babe?"

"Knowing that you'll never be anything."

"Don't say that! What happened to taking your father's spot at the top?" I jumped up from the couch.

"You know that was just bs." He huffed. "I should be in my senior year. I should be in college. I should be living with my parents."

"What are you saying... You're the smartest person... Ever! You're in this situation for a reason, Farkle."

"Riley, I know we just started dating again, but... I think we should take a break."

His words felt like a huge slap in the face. Take a break?? What did he mean, take a break? Everything was going fine between us! I couldn't help the anger that flowed through my veins. I clenched my hands to keep from exploding.
"What do you mean, a break?"

"I've been looking at apartments." He said quickly, whipping out his phone. "I-I'm using my paychecks from Topanga's to move out. I'm gonna go back to school... With you. And after I graduate, I'm heading back to college."

It took a while before I responded, only nodding my head to show that I heard him. How could he plan all of this out without me? I was gonna miss having him around.

"Harvard?"

"No... NYU."

I perked up at his response. "But that's the-"

"College you're going to, I know." He smiled lightly.

"Farkle!" I exclaimed, jumping into his lap. He stood up and spun me around.

"Listen to me, Riley. We're always gonna be together. Maybe not right now, but as soon as I get my life back on track, it's me and you, forever."
