"Ms. Matthews, I'd appreciate it if you stopped talking during my lesson." Mr. Espinosa looked up from his wire rimmed glasses, slapping a piece of paper down on his cluttered desk.

"Of course, I'm sorry sir." I sighed, turning away fron Maya to attend to my own assignment. Having a history teacher other than my dad was frustrating. No matter how annoying he could be, I wanted him to teach me for one last year. One last year until I'm off to college, on my own. On my own to make my own decisions.

Maya poked my rib, causing me to mess up on my writing. "What!" I whispered, earning a glare from the teacher.

"Bay window." She mouthed. "After class."

I nodded in return, not too happy to tell her about my date with Charlie yesterday night. Ever since then, he's been avoiding me. Not to say that I haven't been either.

Ever since Farkle left, I've been comparing every guy who's wanted to date me to him. Is he funny enough? Is he romantic enough? I shook the thoughts out of my head. Farkle's been gone for almost a year now, and he hasn't bothered to call or text me since well... Yesterday.

I didn't read the text, though. I'd been driving, and I didn't feel like putting up with the guy who dumped me after promising to always be there for me.

Before I was aware of it, everybody was leaving the classroom. "Hey, c'mon!" Maya grabbed my arm. I stuffed my notebooks into my bag and followed her out the door and down the stairs, where our bay window awaited. Ever since we were freshman, we've came here to talk about things. It hurt realizing that I'd be graduating this year.

"So, what happened!"

"I was honest with him, that's all." I muttered, fiddling with my fingers.

"Honest in what way?" Maya raised her eyebrows.

"I told him that he has the personality of a rock. He's boring, uninteresting, dull, bland-"

"I think I get it." She laughed, high fiving me. "Good job, you grew some balls!"

"No it's not a good job, peaches. He hates me now. You should've seen how angry he got, it was like a whole other side of him."

"Do I have to ruff this charlie guy up?" Zay appeared next to Maya, sitting down on the bench.

"I'd appreciate that." I giggled. After Lucas, Smackle and Farkle left, Zay and I have became closer than ever.

Zay squeezed my shoulder. "I was hoping you'd say no, suspension does not look good on a college application." He joked.

Suddenly the bell rang, signaling that we had to go our last class of the day, gym.

"Good job, Riley!" The coach called out as I spiked the ball, earning the winning point for our team. I couldn't contain the smile that spread across my face. Volleyball was something that I learned I'm pretty good at. I went from last picked to the team captain within 3 years. Not bad if you ask me.

All the girls made their way to the locker room, me following behind them all. I hated changing in front of everybody, so I convinced coach Darvello to let me change in the gym's private bathroom. Being a teacher's pet isn't so horrible.

I began to change into my regular clothes, when I heard talking outside of the door.

"That Riley matthews chick is such a showoff."

"Yeah, she is. I mean, we get it, your dad is a teacher. She thinks she's so cool because she has a little squad."

"But her squad left, remember? Even her boyfriend couldn't stand her ass."

The other girl laughed loudly. "Yikes, poor her. I bet her and the Blondie are girlfriends behind closed doors."

I fought the urge to cry, throwing my bag over my shoulder and leaving the bathroom. The two girls watched in horror as I passed by them, pushing out the double doors. What did I ever do to deserve that? I'm nothing but nice to people, yet girls still choose meanness over kindness.

I decided not to wait for Maya, instead going straight out the school doors and making a beeline to my car. Just then, my phone buzzed in my pocket. I debated on whether or not I should even check to see who it was.
Giving into my curiosity, I glanced at the caller ID. "Charlie <3" I took a deep breath before answering.

"Hello?"

"R-Riley? I'm sorry, okay? I just got really... Mad when you said those things. I promise I'll never hurt you again."

"It's my fault. I should have never said those things, and I'm sorry. I know you're sensitive, but I couldn't help but speak my mind. I was bored on our date, I was bored with you, and I... I'm just not happy with you Charlie. I hope you have a good life, one without me. Goodbye."

Idk why I made Riley so savage in this story lol, but don't worry folks, Charley (if that's their ship name?) Won't last forever ;) stay tuned.
