Chapter 6

Harrys POV

The next day I wake up to the smell of bacon, it smells delicious and my sudden agitation with Ruby has lifted. Who could stay angry at someone so beautiful and innocent. I slept in the guest room all night we hadn’t spoken since I fucked up with her in the car yesterday. I heard Jess’ mum bring Alexa back but I couldn’t bring myself to go out and see them. I was so angry at Ruby and I couldn’t face anyone else.

I got out of the covers and walked into the kitchen with just my boxers on. I walked behind Ruby who stood behind the cooker cooking the bacon. I wrapped my arms around her small waist and rested my chin on her shoulder. She turned her head ever so slightly to look at me and gave me a small smile. 

 “Ruby, I’m so sorry baby” I whispered in her ear. She turned around and looked up at me. She hovered her lips over mine, just as I was about to connect our lips she pulled away.

 “Its ok Harry” She smirked “I know you were stressed”

 “Tease” I grinned at her. She turned around and flipped over the bacon and flipped her long hair over her shoulder.

 “What can I say” She laughed and turned her head to wink at me. I placed a kiss on her cheek and went over to get Alexa from her high chair. I lifted her above my head and tickled her, her giggle was the most beautiful sound ever. 

 “Love you Alexa” I cooed and kissed her forehead and placed her back in her highchair as Ruby came from the kitchen and placed some baby food on the highchair for Alexa.

I fed her, ate my own breakfast and then jumped into the shower. I got dressed and told Ruby I was going to have to go to the office today.

 “What! Why?” She replied with a frown

 “Don’t give me that face babe” I laughed “And I need to do some work, I haven’t been in weeks, and it’ll take my mind off things” I murmured

 She sighed “Ok but come back as soon as you can, I thought we could have a movie day just me you and Alexa” She smiles

 “Will do babe, sounds great” I kissed Ruby and Alexa both on the forehead and exited the front door.

When I arrive at work I get called into the chief detectives office DC Banks. Nobody knows of my real job except the people I thought could handle themselves such as Liam, Louis and well of course Niall did. Everyone else thinks I work in a normal boring office but I just didn’t want them to get hurt or threatened by what I do.

 “Afternoon Styles, Watts” Banks greets me and Sara Watts my competitor for a few months now. DC Banks our boss decides who should go on the next big case available either me or Sara, the past few months I have always got the job and Sara doesn’t seem to like me much because of it, always making sly comments that I let slide because she’s a girl. Lucky thing. Today is when Banks decides who is going to be leading the latest murder case.

 “Ok as you know, this is going to be a seriously challenging case I think both are you’s are able to crack it but unfortunately I only need one person to do the job.” Banks speaks

 I cross my fingers behind my back for luck.

 “DC Watts, I’ve decided that-” Banks gets cut off

 “Yeah” She smiles in hope and to hurry him along

 “- as I was saying that maybe Styles is better for this case” He sighed

 “What? No? This was my big break. This was the case I was going to get recognition for! Please Banks give me a chance” She wailed. I cringed and felt slightly sorry for her as I watched Banks flinch at her sudden out burst.

 “How the HELL do you expect me to do a job and get more experience if you give all the bloody jobs to Mr big shot over there” She shouted and pointed to me

 “Calm down Sara, you are being ridiculous there will be an investigation for you but this is just not it” He soothed

 She laughed “Do not EVER tell ME calm down or tell ME I am being ridiculous, got it”. I placed my hand on her shoulder to try and lead her out of the room because of her over reaction. 

 She swung around “And YOU” she prodded her finger right into my hard chest “don’t ever touch me, I’ll beat you one day” She smirked and walked off, as we heard the door slam I turned to Banks and we both sighed and started chuckling.

 “What the hell was that” He whimpered “But anyways back to the investigation” 

 “Thank you so much Mr Banks for the opportunity to prove myself again” 

 “No problem Harry. Anyways a 22 year old girl, Zoey Renoylds has been murdered... Her boyfriend who’s name I believe is Kyle Foster found her stabbed to death in her house who she lives in with her father, Peter Renoylds. She had multiple stab wounds and that’s all we know for now. In the next few days we will have gathered a lot more information about suspects and details of the crime. Until then you can go home and rest Styles.”

 “Oh poor girl” I sighed “And ok thank you Mr Banks”

 “See you later Styles”

 Ruby’s POV

 Harry’s been gone for nearly two hours. I’ve just been watching movies and pigging out with Alexa all day. I can’t wait for him to come back, I miss him when he’s not with me which is kinda weird. I put Alexa in her cot for the night and when I get back into the living room Harry’s sitting on the couch smirking, of course.

 “Hey baby, come her” He patted the space next to him on the couch. I swanned over to him and cuddled up to him. “Missed me?” He asked. 

 I nodded and looked up at him with a smile on my face. He smiled back and lean down to press a lingering kiss on my lips. I reached up at Harry for more and he smirked. He pulled me on to his lap so I was straddling him and he gripped my lower back. He lingered his lips on mine like I had done to him earlier, I couldn’t wait any longer and pressed my lips against his forcefully. He smiled into the kiss and swiped his tongue along my bottom lip asking for entry which I thankfully accepted. It was such a passionate kiss with all our untold feelings going into it. 

 When we stopped to eventually breath I looked up with a smile on my face which he reflected, for the rest of the night we watched movies and cuddled and kissed on the sofa like we had planned and I couldn’t be any happier, at the moment...
