Chapter 24

Rubys POV

As my eyes meet Harry's dark eyes he shifts his gaze else where as if he's ashamed to look at me or be here. He tries to pathetically walk past me acting immature so I stick my arms out wide to stop him from getting past I see the corner of his mouth threatening to turn into a little smile at my stupid gesture but he quickly composes myself before I see (which I already had, so he failed). 

"Ruby, let me past" his voice is monotone

"Noooo Harry" I whine 

He sighs and looks directly into my eyes, his features soften instead of being completely tensed up as they were previous "I'm sorry baby"

"Don't try to win me round by calling me 'baby'" I tell him

"No ruby, I really am sorry. I shouldn't have never lost my temper at you. It was uncalled for" He mumbles 

"I know" I sigh deeply "I'm sorry too" 

He grins down at me and I reciprocate the expression "where were you going I ask?"

"I was just about to go and visit nialls grave, you?"

"Yeah, I just went to Jess' " I stutter, tears threatening to spill at the mention of my deceased best friend and her husband. Harry gently rubs the pad of his thumb across my cheek to soothe me and I fling myself into harry's arms. I think he was alarmed at my aggressiveness at first but nonetheless hugged me back, tight. 

"I'm sorry for everything I said Ruby" I pull myself off harry a little bit so I can look up to his face, his eyes all glossy, obviously tears threatening to spill from harry's eyes also "I didn't mean one single bit of it, I love you more than you could ever comprehend baby" a single tear runs down harry's cheek. 

"I know harry neither did I, why were both angry and agitated. I'll always love you" I smile up at him and I wipe the tear away from his eye. "just tell me are you cheating on me?" I questioned him 

"No! Of course I'm not silly. Its better off if you don't know, I'm trying to protect you" He gives me a slight smile

"ok, I trust you" I stand on my tip toes and kiss him which he happily accepts

"Do you want to go home? I'll visit Niall another day" harry asks me 

"are you sure? I don't mind waiting here for you" 

"I'm sure, now c'mon" he says and picks me up and I squeal

"harry! what are you doing" he doesn't reply and simply carries me to the cars bridal style. 

We meet back at our house as we both took our own cars while we were arguing and we race each other home which harry most definatly wins because he's an absolute lunitic and very competetive. He couldn't bear to see me win so I'll give him this one. 

"Yes!" He shouts while jumping out the car once it's parked on the drive 

"I'll get you next time styles" I wink at him

"whatever rub" he winks 

When we get into the house we both decide we are very hungry so harry russel's up some spaghetti carbonara which I have been craving for days. We sit at the table and eat our food its absolutely delicious "wow Harry, this is amazing"

"I told you it was good" he chuckles 

"it is, but no need to be big headed about it" I smirk while joining in with his chuckle

We clean up which ends up being a bigger mess than what we started with, we decided to have a bubble fight. Well we didn't decide I turned my head away for a second and when I turn it back Harry's hand full of bubbles was smothered across my face so it was game on. Then we get settled on the sofa with blankets and we put the movie "The Notebook" on which Harry denies that he likes but as I turn to face him he looks totally zoned in on the movie and I know he secretly loves it yet he would never admit it. The movie is nearly finished and I'm just sitting scoffing popcorn down my neck when harry's phone rings. 

"Yeah" harry answers into the phone as he picks it up

"What now? It's like 5 'o' clock"

"urgh fine, I'm on my way" harry and i sigh at the same time as I know this means harry's leaving me all alone.

"I'm sorry baby, I have to nip into work for a bit something about one of the clients not being happy with one of their accounts" harry looks anywhere but my eyes as he's telling me

"ok" I pout at him 

"Pleaseeee don't do that ruby, you know I don't want to leave you!" he mumbles and brings me into his chest for a hug

"I just don't want to be by myself" I mumble as I'm pressed against his chest.

"I know, you know I would bring you with me if I was allowed, but customer confidentiality and all that" he tries to joke

"ok ok, now get going" I smack his bum as he gets up from the sofa 

"I love you" he shouts as he heads out of the door

"Love you harry" I sigh being left alone once again.

Harrys POV

I hate lying to her about my job, I can't stand it. I just want her to be safe I know she's upset with me but it's for her own good. As I slam the door I walk towards the car before tripping over a bottle with a note in it -how old fashioned please- nonetheless I try to fit my fingers into the bottle to take the note or letter out with no use so I smash it onto the ground to get this shit out. I bend down to pick it up, reminding myself to pick the glass up later and get into my car to read it. 

*She's beautiful harold, I would keep a close eye on her. Hope you're enjoying the film, The Notebook is it?*

What the fuck. Who the fuck is this bastard, who is looking through my window or is in my house? How dare they.

As I make my way into work and into Banks office, he spins around on his chair and looks smug. "They've arrested Peter for the murder Harry"

"Peter" I ask "her own father?" 

"Yeah, shocking isn't it, they found his fingerprints all over the knife" he shakes his head

"Jesus" I add

"Yeah we need you to talk to him in a few days to get all the evidence sorted out for court" He tells me, I nod "oh and harry we need you to go to Kyles' place too and tell him about Peter, maybe tomorrow?"

"Sure" the sooner we get this case over the better, I don't have a good feeling about this.
