With evidence of the security tapes, and disturbing audio tape recordings, I wanted more information on the Jones' and what led to their horrific death.
I walked in the morgue and flashed my badge. "Genevieve Reynolds, FBI. I need to see..." I pulled out a paper with a name on it. "...Byron Kelly." The security, called up Mr. Kelly and told him to report to the front desk. I held my files close to my body and patiently waited.
"Yes?" Byron Kelly, a tall dark skinned man approached the front desk. "Good afternoon Mr. Kelly. My name is Genevieve Reynolds, and I'm with the FBI." I flashed my badge. "From the documents here in my files, you performed two autopsies, on Barbara Jones and Keith Jones." Mr. Kelly nodded his head. "I need more information on the deaths and more information on them at that. Can we talk?" I asked. "Of course. Let's walk."
We walked down this long hallway, with the lights above us showing us our path. "I really appreciate you taking time by helping me out. We're seeking justice for them, but everything is so tight with finding the killers." I said. "I'm sure investigation can be very hard. I hope I will be essential in what you're looking for today." Byron retorted.
We made a left and the first door on the left was the room we were to enter. "This is our freezer for the bodies. You can follow me."
I walked in the room, which wasn't very cold in the atmosphere, but im sure where the bodies lay, they are being preserved. "Every one of these...compartments, have corpses in them?" I asked. "Unfortunately so. Now, their autopsies have been performed already, but I will give you a run down on what the official cause of death was." I nodded my head, and prepared my pen and paper.
We walked over to one compartment on the 4th shelf. "This is Barbara." He opened the door, and her body, wrapped in a plastic bag, slid out. Mr. Kelly looked at the tag on the outside of the bag. "Cause of death: Stabbing, excessive loss of blood." He said. "Anything shocking that you guys found?" I asked anxiously.
"We actually did find something shocking. We found PCP, or Angel Dust. It was very light, as if she had taken it a couple of months before she died." I nodded my head and wrote it down.
"Can we see Keith Jones please" I asked. "Sure thing." We moved to the other side of the room and went to shelf 6. Mr. Kelly pulled out Mr. Jones body and read the tag. "Cause of death: Drowned. " He said. Mr. Jones got it worse than his wife. If he was stabbed, head nearly decapitated, and shot four times, maybe he was the target of this whole murder.
"Did he have any drugs in his blood stream?" Well, according to his doctor reports, he constantly complained of back pain. So he was taking pain killers. But he was probably crushing them up, and mixing them with cocaine possibly." I wrote down everything Mr. Kelly was explaining. "So, he wanted to cure his physical pain while getting a rush." I confirmed. "Pretty much so. I'm surprised his heart didn't give up earlier than before." I tilted my head. "How long had he been prescribed to pain killers?" I asked. "Since 2006. So about 8 years. He's was a lucky, yet an unfortunate man." "Do you think the people that killed them, were...in a drug war? Someone didn't owe the money on time? Something related to that?" I guessed. "Honestly, I do think so. When it comes to drugs and money, people will kill each other to get what they want."
I finished writing up everything down and said, "Well, Mr. Kelly, it's been a pleasure speaking with you today. You've been very informative." I shook his hand. "The pleasure is all mine." He smiled. "I must ask. Why is FBI coming in about 4 months after the murder. I've been working here for a long time, and they usually get all their information within that week. What's so different about this one?" He asked. "Because, things are being hidden around the department. I know there is. No one seems to want to find justice in this murder." I looked down at my file. "But anyways, I should get going. Thank you again Dr. Kelly." "No problem. If you have anymore questions just call."
