Instead of driving home, crying into my pillow, wondering where I went wrong, and how to get the love of my life back, I decided to go to work. Get back on my game. Maybe Bruno did me a favor. He finally let me go, something he wanted to do initially. Let me go out and do what I need to do, and even though it ended our relationship, maybe it's better that way. I couldn't hold him in my life, if he did not truly want me. I had to let him go too.

I drove to the county jail, where Wyatt was being held at, wanting to see what the whole point of his phone call was.

I walked in and flashed my badge, "Reynolds, Genevieve, FBI, I need to speak with an inmate, name is Henderson, Wyatt." I say to the officer at the front desk. He flipped on his walkie-talkie and called for an officer to walk Wyatt in. "This way ma'am." The officer led me to the telephones where I took a seat.

Moments later, Wyatt came by and sat by the phone. He picked up the phone and just smiled. "I knew you'd come and see me. You're hungry for answers." His voice was raspy. "Unless you're just hungry for me, baby." "Cut the bullshit, how'd you get Bruno's house number?" I asked. "Oh a great friend of mine handed me the number." "Who helped you?" I interrupted.

"I can see the breakdown in your eyes. You're rotting up inside, I can see it all over your face. I take it, baby Bruno went to find another lady to fuck on his free time?" "This has nothing to do with him. This is between me and you. Give me one reason why I shouldn't have stabbed your ass in the office." I began to raise my voice. "Because you can't live with yourself, knowing you killed a man you grew a bond with." He said in a whisper through the telephone. "Tell me Genevieve, what convinced you that being forward with me, would get you anywhere?" I took my eyes off of him, looking down. "Ahhh." Wyatt laughed. "Has the ferocious, the brave, the woman made of steel, fall in love with I, Wyatt Henderson?" "No!" I cried.

"Oh. But you did. Perhaps if you hadn't fallen for me, you wouldn't have hurt your beloved Bruno, would you?" I remained quiet. "The things one does for love, is just a stab in the back on the other."

"Why are you doing this to me Wyatt? Why did you do any of this? What are you trying to accomplish here?" I asked.

Flashback

"Ahh, Wyatt, son, it's great to see you working here." Chief Spencer said to me. He was like my father, he was my friend. He watched me, struggling, financially and mentally. That man saved my life, and if it weren't for him, I don't where I'd be.

"There's a new case files." Spencer said flipping through papers. "Do you want it? You can have a partner if you'd like." He said. "Yes, I'll take it. Matter of fact, I'll have Justin do it with me."

Present

"Big deal, you and Justin worked on a case." I say. "That was the Jackson murder case of 2007. Publicized world wide, and guess who got all the credit? Justin. That bastard had been kissing Spencers ass for years." Wyatt's eyes danced. "So what the fuck does that have to do with me?" I ask with anger in my voice.

"For many reasons Genevieve, first, I was jealous that you, being new, ranked higher than me, and I was an asshole, but second, I loved you. You never gave me a chance, but when you did, I fucked up. I was angry at myself more than anything. And when I saw you with Bruno, it...it killed me even more." Wyatt clenched his jaw, grinding them so hard, I could hear them over the phone.

"If you loved me, even cared for me, why...why would would you hurt me. Attempt to rape me in my house, touch me and places I wouldn't want to be touched?" Wyatt didn't answer. "Answer me!" I slammed my hand on the metal table, and others looked at me, but I didn't care. "I never tried, nor did I want to." "Then who? Who were you with in the office that night. Who were you with when you assulted me in my house, and so on?"

Wyatt dropped his head and said without making eye contact, "You like poetry?" He asked. "Wyatt! Stop being funny!" "If you found me, you'll find the other, but don't be surprised to know that he's like your brother." My heart dropped. Wyatt hung phone up, and left with an officer.
