When Bruno and I were on our way to his house, the car ride was very quiet. "Bruno, you needed to tell me something?" I asked while on my phone. "Yeah. Put your phone away first." He said. "Because I want you to hear and understand me clearly." He said sternly behind the wheel.
"What's wrong?" I ask putting my phone down. "Why were holding hands with that Justin guy?" He asked. "Holding his ha-Oh! Ha ha ha, he was just thanking me for accepting his job offer. I'm going to work over there again." I said happily.
"After all the shit they put you through. Maybe it's just me Genevieve, but I don't trust any of them, sometimes, I don't even trust Faith and Charlie." He said. "Why would you say that? If they didn't care about me, then they wouldn't have asked me to come back." I retorted.
"Eve, are you stupid? Are you seriously that fucking tolerant to their bullshit? We broke up because of them Eve. They're the reason why we split up for so long." Bruno raised his voice. "No, they're not the reason. I'm the reason why I lost my job, and I'm the reason why we broke up the first time. I take full responsibility for that Bruno."
"Genevieve, I think you're making a big mistake here. You're really fucking it all up for yourself." Bruno said. "Bruno, you've never been happy for me since the beginning, and if you can't support me through this time in my life then there's no reason to take you in the future with me." I say. "What is that supposed to mean Eve." He asked. "I mean that if you're going to continue to think you know what's best for me, you can forget about us." I said sternly.
Bruno didn't say a word to me. "I'm only looking out for you Eve. I don't want to see you get hurt again." He said to me. "I'm not going to get hurt again. It hurts me more that you're not supporting me, something you promised you'd do."
"I'd never make a promise that I could never keep." We pulled up in the driveway, and Bruno turned the car off. "I have this feeling. This terrible feeling that one of those assholes are going to hurt you, and I don't take that lightly Genevieve. I'd be an awful boyfriend if I wasn't protective or concerned. But, for you to threaten to leave me for this, it's quite disgusting. I can't stop you from leaving me. I can't stop you from doing anything, but if you want to fall back in that shit hole, do it, but don't expect me to pull you out and clean you up, because I warned you."
Bruno exited the car leaving me by myself. It was a lot to think about right now. It was a lot to swallow. I appreciate Bruno being protective of me, but this is more than me getting my job back. This is about me solving a problem with the right solutions.
I want to find justice for two lost souls, and I don't want to quit, knowing I couldn't help them.
