Chapter Eleven

Audrey dreamt of things that made no sense to her. She dreamt of blood, yellow eyes and something that she couldn't remember. Her eyes opened slowly, and she had to blink several times before she was actually able to see. Her brain was slow to catch up and her eyes widened in panic when she realized she wasn't in her bed. Then, all the things that had happened the night before came rushing back. She remembered the brick, the knocking, the taunting and then.... she remembered Roan. She instantly relaxed against the pillows and sighed, she could smell Roan's scent and wondered if she was in his bed. If she was, where was he? She wasn't left wondering long, when the door suddenly opened and Roan walked in. Audrey looked up and noticed that his face was serious. She knew, she wouldn't be able to play what happened off and knew she would have to tell him what had happened last night and before.

Roan was relieved to see Audrey awake, he had been in such a rage last night when he realized that Raven had somehow led both him and Drake away, just so he could get to Audrey. Roan was stupid to leave her there alone after her already sighting him, but honestly, he didn't think to leave Drake behind. He was so positive they'd catch him.... "Audrey, are you okay?" Roan took a seat on his bed, his hand brushing against her leg through the sheet.

Audrey nodded slowly, fresh tears coming to her eyes at the thought of whoever stalking her being so close. "This is all my fault... He followed me.."

Roan's frowned. "What do you mean, he followed you? This happened before?"

Audrey nodded again, nibbling on her lip before she went into explaining. "It's the main reason I moved here. You see- one day I started receiving letters, poems things like that. Nothing harmful from someone who said they'd admired me, thought I was beautiful... Small things... I never thought anything of it, it was a little nice since I wasn't much of an eye catcher.." Audrey stared at her fingers as she spoke, unable to keep Roan's intense gaze. "Then it turned to flowers, but these flowers were delivered to my front door... Then came the knocking.." I began to get annoyed, but then it became creepy. This person would knock on my door throughout the night." She shook her head, feeling like a idiot.

"So you received letters, flowers and then knocks?" Roan asked, his fist clenching. Just the thought of anyone showing his mate that much attention made anger burn through him, but the thought of it being Raven made it a million times worse.

"Yeah. It went on for about two months or so and then one day I heard another knock. This time it was during the day. I decided it wasn't him, because if it was it wouldn't have happened during the day so I looked out my peep hole and when I didn't see anything I answered. I found a box... It wasn't marked, just had my name on it."

Roan watched as she struggled, could see her hands shaking and couldn't stand the sight without comforting her. Reaching over he took her hands into his and rubbed his thumb soothingly over her skin. "What was in the box?" He coaxed.

Audrey looked into Roan's eyes, "pictures.. Pictures of me walking outside, hanging out with friends, but what held most of my attention was the pictures of me sleeping in my bed... Roan, he got into my apartment and took pictures of me while I was sleeping!" She cried, the fear nearly overwhelming her. "He's found me again! He saw us when we were on my porch!" Audrey watched Roan's jaw clench, his nose flare and his eyes darken.

"How do you know that it's the same person?" Roan asked, he hoped that it was just a coincidence, because if it wasn't it meant that Audrey had been in Raven's sights for a longer time then he thought. But, it didn't make sense. Raven didn't taunt his victims or stalk them like he was with Audrey- if it was him.

"Because, he sent me a picture. It was attached to the brick that was thrown through my window. And when I made it upstairs and locked myself in my room he was knocking on my door. At first it was loud banging, like he was desperate to get inside, then it turned quiet a couple knocks here and there as if he was taunting me. Letting me know he was on the other side...." Audrey shivered over the memory, but relaxed slightly when she felt Roan's hands squeeze hers.

"Where is the picture?" Roan then asked, he wanted to see for himself.

"My bedroom floor.... When I saw..... I just.... I'm so sorry! You're being dragged into my mess..." Audrey couldn't help herself. The guilt that something may happen to him because of her was unbearable. The thought of Roan getting hurt made her chest feel tight, she didn't know exactly when it had happened, but she was in love with Roan Black.

Roan's heart ached and he found he could no longer sit there and watch as his mate caved in on herself. Moving forward he pulled Audrey against him and rubbed her back soothingly. "Hey, don't worry. I'm here for you and I won't let anything happen to you, I promise. You're safe here with me- with Drake." Roan felt determination rise inside him. He pulled back a little, grabbed Audrey under the chin and lifted until he had her attention. "Trust me, okay?" When she nodded, Roan closed the distance letting his lips brush against hers. He groaned when he felt her throw her arms around his neck, her mouth opening to him. He kissed her until she was senseless his primal side wanting to mark her and mate her as his, but his logical side preventing him. He wouldn't take advantage and even thought they'd already shared one passionate moment, he wasn't about to push for more right now. No matter how much his body wanted him too.

Audrey couldn't help herself. As soon as she felt the touch of his lips it was like her entire mind had gone blank and all there was, was Roan. Her hands moved through his short hair, gripping lightly. The groan he let out was so sexy and it did things to her that was unexplainable. Her insides turned to jelly whenever he was near and she swore that it if were possible she would be a puddle at his feet. Needing air Audrey broke the kiss only to let out a hiss of pleasure as Roan nipped at her chin. "R-Roan..." She moaned, fire pooling in her lower abdomen.

Roan could smell the arousal of Audrey, it came off her in waves smacking him in the face. He knew he had to stop or else he knew he wouldn't. It would be too late. Slowly, with one last nibble he pulled away. He would never get tired of seeing the desire in her eyes and the affect he hand on her. "Are you okay?" His voice coming out strained as he fought for control.

Audrey nodded, feeling her face heat. "Y-yes." She realized when he pulled away that she was disappointed that he'd stopped. She wasn't a sexual person even though she wasn't a virgin. She could go on living life without feeling the need for a partner, but now, she would do just about anything to have Roan move on from kissing. She watched a heart stopping grin break out over Roan's face and felt her stomach flutter. She didn't know exactly what her and Roan were to each other, but she wanted to find out.

"I'm going to go next door. Do you want me to bring anything back for you?" Roan asked, needing to put some distance between him and Audrey before he wasn't able to anymore. The sight of her in his bed, looking ready for his attentions was just too much for him. When she shook her head, Roan nodded and left the room without another word.

Audrey frowned when the door closed behind Roan. This was the second time the man had kissed her with so much passion only to leave. Sure, his brother had wanted him the first time, but this time.... She was sure he was running away, maybe, maybe he didn't feel the same that she did. Was she that naïve to believe that he felt more? Audrey pondered the situation more, feeling more and more foolish. She felt like a school girl with her first crush. She felt sparks and an overwhelming attraction when she saw Roan and it intensified whenever he touched her whether it was a brush of the arm or a touch of his finger.... When her head began to ache, she decided she needed to sleep just a bit longer and took advantage of the fact that she was already in a bed. Later would be soon enough to figure her feelings and thoughts out.
