Chapter Fifteen

Audrey sighed as she relaxed in her claw tub, she still felt guilty that Roan was cleaning up the mess and had said as much, but he refused to listen and had all but carried her to the bathroom and then practically ordered that she soak in the tub. Her mind wondered over all that had happened in just a short amount of time. She wasn't always the type of girl to question every single things, but lately she found that she could barely figure out her own thoughts let alone figure out what to do about it. She bit her lip as she thought about Roan who was just on the other side of the door. She had heard his heavy footsteps ascend the stairs and move into her bedroom which happened to be straight across the hall way. Closing her eyes, her mind filled with images of Roan- her boyfriend. A smile curved her lips lazily. She liked the sound of it and the more she said it the more content she became. That sexy as sin man was all hers.

The happy feeling suddenly fled as thoughts of the person stalking her came forward. What did he want with her? She had always kept to herself in the city, never had a large amount of friends and as far as she was aware she'd never made an enemy. She just couldn't imagine someone being so obsessed with boring her that they'd actually follow her all the way out here. Her heart hammered at the thought of her window being fixed. Even though she'd only stayed the one night so far, she felt safe while near Roan, like that no matter what came at her emotionally, physically or otherwise that he'd do everything to protect her. It was odd, to be so sure of someone after only knowing them for barely a month, but she was. But what would happen to her once her window was fixed? She couldn't stay with Roan after that and imagining staying in this cabin alone, even though Roan and his brother were so close was still to far for Audrey's mind. "Grow up Audrey. You're not a child.... You can protect yourself..." She muttered half with disgust over her thoughts.

A sudden knock at the door had Audrey jumping nearly into a standing position, but as soon as she heard the voice flow through she relaxed instantly. "Are you okay in there Audrey?" Roan's voice was filled with concern and it melted her heart. She'd never had anyone care for her so much before, well except for Karla, but the men that had previously been in her life hadn't shown as much concern or compassion for her. It was a nice change... one that she could get used to.

"Yes, I'm alright.. I'm about to get out and then I was thinking to cook all of us dinner.." She dunked her head beneath the water, deciding to finish her bath quickly. She couldn't soak when her stomach growled the way it was.

Roan frowned at the door. She sounded calm, but her fast heart beat and the light spicy scent of her fear said otherwise. He couldn't call her out on it, because he wouldn't be able to explain how he knew she was afraid, so instead he moved away from the door and headed back down the stairs. He was near the bottom when Audrey's front door opened, revealing his brother. "Drake, it's rude to just walk into someone's home."

Drake shrugged, smiling. "I knew she wasn't in the living room, so figured I was safe to just come inside." Drake opened his mouth to ask just where Audrey was when his sensitive ears heard the sudden splash of water from upstairs. "Hmmm." Moving on while he had the chance he said, "so what's the plan Roan?"

Roan became more and more serious as his brother spoke. "I keep her close, if possible in the same house with us and we kill Raven as we're supposed to."

"You make this all sound simple Roan." Drake hissed.

"It is simple."

"No it isn't. You haven't thought about the fact that if she lives with us we won't have privacy. We will have to be cautious of what we say and do every second. One slip up-"

Roan held his hand up, "I know that. I plan to tell her soon, but I wanted her to get to know me- us better. Let her know for herself that she can trust us, that we would never hurt her. She's going to be staying the next few days with us and I'll do it before her window get's fixed."

Drake nodded, happy to know his brother was thinking with the right head. "Okay."

Roan nodded as well, the two brothers silently agreeing with each other. Audrey appeared in the living room a few moments later, completely unaware of Drake. "Roan. I forgot about my phone being broken, can I barro-" Roan watched as Audrey finally realized Drake was in the room and watched as her face turned bright red. He fought the urge to smile, knowing right away what had caused the embarrassment.

Audrey swallowed her nerves, turned her attention back to Roan and glared lightly when she saw the amusement in his eyes. "Can I borrow your phone to call the shop?"

Roan didn't hesitate to slip his phone from his pocket and hand it off to her. Audrey took the phone and he watched as she walked to the kitchen island, opened a drawer and pulled a phone book out. It didn't take her long to find the number as she began to punch them into his phone. "If you guy's will excuse me for a moment. Oh figure out what you'd both like for dinner and when I come back I'll begin cooking." Audrey hadn't waited for a reply, but had began to speak into the cell phone as she went back up the stairs, disappearing into her room.

Roan grinned when he heard his brother's shocked voice. "She's cooking us dinner?" There was a slight panic edge to Drake's voice that amused him. Their mother was a horrible cook and it must have tainted his view on women cooking.

"Yes she's cooking us dinner. Come on now, why so green Drake? She can't be any worse then mother." Roan teased, moving to the fridge.
