The Stairs

Walking down the stairs, 

Two steps at a time, 

Is just so much easier, 

Then the tiresome climb

It's just so convenient, 

To take life down with you, 

And run the course downhill, 

Than going up, it's true!

It's so easy to launch the tears, 

So easy to put you down, 

So easy to send your mood in spirals, 

So easy to make you frown

It's so simple to just walk downwards,

One foot in front of the other, 

Just descending the steps to Tartarus, 

You're mind in melancholy forever

It's so easy to hurt another, 

So easy to mark the end,

It's easier to fix than break, 

It's easier to just descend

Why can't we just make an effort,

To go and light up one face, 

Why can't we just move upwards, 

Just climb and pick up the pace!

Walking down the stairs, 

Two steps at a time, 

Will only make it harder, 

To look up and face life

Make that extra effort,

Walk that extra mile, 

It's easy to just walk down the stairs, 

But it feels better to see a smile.

It's so easy to hurt someone, it's so easy to burst into tears. It's easier to hate than love, it's easier to descend than ascend. 

Sometimes it's best to look on the bright side of things. If you can smile, why don't you? If you can love, why don't you? If there are people in your life who possess that magical power to make others laugh, you know they're the ones you're to keep around the longest. Don't think about the hard times, dream for a brighter future. Everything will fit into place eventually, but first you must ascend those stairs. Then you'll be on the right track to the pursuit of happiness.
