One usually looks upon rain with distaste
The muddy puddles and downpour as just bad fate
The sky a murky shade of grey, dark clouds hovering aloft
Water overflowing through the streets, the city seeming distraught
Thunder bellowing in the distance, lighting flashing across the sky
Trees departing from their stumps, and hearing heaven's cries
Nature tells us different tales, rain being one among
But to some it's nothing but a burden bestowed upon us all
But to someone like me there is nothing better
Than watching the leaves, in the breeze they flutter
The city going through a process of catharsis,
Every direction is filled with eerie darkness
The birds calling to one another and the frogs croaking in response,
Like a scene from a Disney movie, nature sings along
The scent of damp earth fills us with a sense of calm
And droplets fall like tears onto my outstretched palm
Children jumping in the puddles,
Colorful umbrellas everywhere
Dew drops dotting every flower,
People running and dancing in the showers
Farmers bursting with glee, everlasting joy
The rain can really aid us, it doesn't destroy
The best part about it is how easily one might forget
About all their problems and just look ahead
A distraction it provides us with, the rain
A chance to forget, a cure for the pain
When the showers die down and the sun comes out from hiding
It is a time for new beginnings, a time to enjoy life's roller coaster we're riding
