Recap:

I watched as his tall figure disappeared down the trail before going back into the barn.

I will give Ryder a chance, but only one.

Maybe in the end, it'll be good for both of us.

The sun was low in the sky before I returned from my ride, but it was all well needed. I brushed Rebel's mane out as I heard the screen door slam shut.

"I don't need this, old man!"

I flinched, it was Ryder's voice.

"Ryder? Just come inside, honey. You too, Nathan."

My mother was obviously trying to calm a situation and curiosity got the best of me as I leaned my head of the barn, checking out the scene. Ryder holding a motorcycle up, anger written all over his face. My father standing on the porch, but instead of anger it was exhaustion that took over his features.

Ryder turned, his hard gaze meeting mine.

"What are you looking at, bitch?" He spat, before taking off on his death machine.

My chest hurt as words repeated through my head.

Bitch

Bitch

Bitch

I huffed, and this is why I didn't trust Ryder. What the hell did I ever do to him?

I walked past my parents, my mother whispering to my father to help calm him down. Quickly, I made my way upstairs preparing for a lazy evening.

"No way! You said yes, right?!" I squealed, as Kelsey squealed back into the reciever.

"Of course I said yes, it's Tyler Roberts!"

I leaned back onto my bed, as Kelsey went on and on about what she imagined their date would be like after he had just called her to ask her out five mintues proir. After a few mintues I began to focus on my parents talking downstairs as Kelsey went on about her date.

"He's going to come back, right Nathan?"

My mother's voice held worry, she shouldn't be worried about Ryder, we'd only known him two days and he isn't even a joy to be around. But hearing her so distressed about his disappearance made me furious at Ryder and his selfish acts.

"Of course, dear. He'll come back."

I huffed to myself, saying my goodbyes to Kelsey before heading downstairs.

"Y'all should go to bed, he's a big boy, he'll come back once he cools off."

My parents both jumped in their position on our cream colored sofa hearing my voice as I softly padded down the stairs.

"I told you, honey, just let him cool off."

My father gave me a smile as my mother silently agreed.

"Good night, Shay."

Both of them whispered before making their way upstairs as I settled back in their previous spot, awaiting Ryder's arrivial.
