Recap:
He ignored me, looking around before his eyes set on the gravestone.
"Who is this? Are you crying?"
I hadn't noticed that the salty streams were going down my face until he metioned it. He didn't any right to come out here and question me when he doesn't even answer any of my questions. Only gives me damn riddles.
"Just go away, Ryder."
I started back for the house, expecting Ryder to be on my tail, but instead when I turned around he stayed at the grave site and I left him there.

"Pass the peas, dear?"
My mothers voice brought me back down the earth, as I passed the bowl to her.
"Thank you."
I just nodded as she served herself, Ryder sitting in his spot next to me.
"I saw you take off this afternoon on the trail without Rebel, where'd you go off to?"
I turned my head slightly, expecting Ryder to jump in and answer but he remained quiet therefore I answered for myself.
"Just a walk, that's all."
I shrugged as Ryder met my eyes, his eyebrows came down in confusion, but his eyes quickly left mine.
"Oh, well, if you ever need to talk-"
"I don't, excuse me, I'm going to see Rebel."
My mothers mouth stayed closed as she nodded, my body turning towards the kitchen.
I cleaned off my dish, before heading back out towards the barn.
I brought Rebel out, as Midnight, our black Arabian whinnied from her stall.
"What was that?"
His deep voice wasn't angry but more along the lines of curious.
"None of your business, Ryder. How many times do I have to say that to get it through your thick skull?!"
My voice came out in a hiss, I didn't mean to say anything so harsh, but I couldn't talk about it. Just like my parents went with Julie, I couldn't talk about Aunt Karen, it hurts too much.
"Question for a question?"
My head snapped in his direction.
"About anything?"
Ryder shifted from foot to foot as I asked my question but quietly nodded.
"I will answer any question honestly."
I nodded, before bringing out Rebel and Midnight's saddles.
"What are you doing?"
Ryder's voice sounded alarmed, as I smirked, my back to him.
"We're going riding, lesson number one."
I turned around just to see Ryder's eyes widen, before he composed himself.
***
"Tap with your feet, Ryder! Don't kick the shit outta my horse, he'll take off with you on it!"
Ryder looked down, my foot lightening up on Midnight's side.
"Sorry,"
He patted her neck, and I wasn't sure which one of us he was talking to.
"Can I ask the question now?"
Ryder slowed Midnight to a stop as we stood in the meadow, the sun setting behind the trees only giving us a little bit of time before darkness would take over the sky.
"Sure, but you only get one, use it wisely."
Ryder leaned back, relaxing his back before speaking.
"Why didn't you tell your parents about going to that grave?"
Out of all the questions I was expecting like 'who's grave was that?' Or 'why won't you tell me who's grave that was?' this question was not what I was expecting at all.
"When we lost her, it was very hard for us to cope, but my parents had it the worst. I just felt that when I had it bad before, they weren't there for me and she was, so I don't really have to answer to them. They know it too, but they don't care."
The whole time I spoke Ryder's green orbs never once met mine.
"Who was she?"
I sighed.
"Cheater, you only get one. Besides, it's my turn."
Ryder nodded, looking up to me, waiting almost in fear for my question.
"Who was that boy from the other day?"
Ryder took a deep breath, looking away from me. He looked around almost checking if we were alone.
"I used to be involved with some things and people that weren't the best and he comes from there. He's dangerous, reckless, and wouldn't stop to kill you if you did or didn't do something to him. If you ever see him again, run. I don't care if he's being nice, just get the hell outta there."
I stayed frozen in my saddle, what the hell had Ryder been involved in?
